The midnight sun
In far northern countries, like Norway, Sweden and Finland, the days in summer are very long. In some places, there is light for 24 hours. In Svalbard in Norway, the sun is in the sky all day and all night from about 20th April to 23rd August.
In winter though, the days are very short and dark. In some places, people don’t see the sun between the end of October and the middle of February.
