THE DISCIPLE ANDREW
John 1:40-42 (King James Version)
40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
the importance of bringing their family and friends to Christ for salvation.
To show what an impact one person can have for the total cause of Christ.
INTRODUCTION:
Andrew and Peter were the first disciples to be chosen by Christ.
- Matthew 4:19 (King James Version)
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Notice the Lord did not change their profession but, rather the product.
- “I will make you fishers of men’. They were still fishermen but now instead of fish of the sea they were fishers of men.
Often times people hold on to the misconception that they must become a totally different person after salvation.
- With some people this is true. but some continue in what ever profession they have always been.
Remember every born again person receives a new heart, a new desire, and a new destiny.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (King James Version)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
we have Christian lawyers, Christian plumbers, and Christian grocery store managers.
- ANDREW BROUGHT PETER TO CHRIST

In our last lesson (about Peter) we eluded to this fact of Andrew bringing Peter to Christ.
- Andrew was first a disciple of John the Baptist

- Notice as soon as Andrew had found Christ he immediately went out to tell someone else.
- Andrew’s message to Peter was of Christ.

41 ……We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
- Every true witness should always be. must be about Christ.
- He fulfilled his responsibility to his family and loved ones.
Have you been a true witness?
Have you witnessed to all your family and loved ones?
Has your message been the message of Christ?
- ANDREW IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING OTHERS TO CHRIST

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
- Andrew was always aroundwhere there were lostsinners.
Are you an Andrew?
Do you bring others to Christ?
Are you always doing personal work around sinners?

- Andrew was a man of prayer. Vs. 14 says,

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer
- Andrew was in that group.
To be an Andrew and bring our families, our friends, and others to the Messiah
- we must be in long seasons of prayer with God.
- He will mold you into concerned, caring, and witnessing Christians.
CONCLUSION:
Will you become an Andrew?
Will you witness to someone this week?
Will you spend time in prayer?
Some additional thoughts about Andrew.
Andrew was arrested and condemned to die on a cross.
- Andrew feeling unworthy to be crucified on the same—shaped cross as his Master, begged that his be different.
- So, he was crucified on an X—shaped cross. His apostolic symbol is two crossed fish in the shape of an “X” symbolizing he his death and that he was a fisherman.
