Upper Primary
Literacy and English / Writing:We will be learning to: identify and create various types of poetry; take notes when listening or reading for information and put these into our own words; identify, understand the purpose of and apply different forms of punctuation in our writing.Spelling:We will be learning how to spell common words with specific spelling patterns and how to spell common words with the introduction of prefixes and suffixes.
Listening and Talking: We will be learning to use notes we have made to prepare a talk for an audience.
Maths and Numeracy
/ Calculations:We will be learning to: apply both mental and written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; tackle a problem using the rule for the order of operations in calculations; select and use the most appropriate strategy to solve a calculation or word problem.
Angle, Symmetry and Transformation:We will be learning to: estimate, create and measure angles; describe and make journeys using compass points; read and plot co-ordinates, create shapes and patterns by reflecting and rotating shapes.
Data Handling: We will be learning to; interpret and display information in pictograms, bar graphs and line graphs and understand the impact of scale on these; explore a variety of ways to find the average of a set of data.
Project
/ Extreme Weather and Natural Disasters: We will be looking at how natural disasters are formed, significant disasters throughout history, ‘high-impact’ areas and how our weather differs from other countries.
Christmas Enterprise: Pupils will be creating beautiful cards and other goodies to sell at our Shopping Night.
Expressive Arts
/ Music
The pupils will be learning songs for the School play. They will practise their singing skills, working to improve pitch and expression, and perform in front of an audience with the rest of the primary and secondary pupils.

Technologies
/ We will be learning how to use Glow as a means of creating documents, sharing work and collaborating with peers.
Religious and Moral Education / Mr Lawson will be working with the children. They will be look at various religious stories and discussing their meaning.
Health and Wellbeing / P.E.
Developing coordination and fluency during badminton.
Traditional Shetland dancing in preparation for the school dance.
Modern Languages / French:We will be learning the numbers to 70 and revising how to say our age and ask someone else for their age.
