About the Speakers:
Jeffrey Goldis Senior Vice President and Special Counsel of the Managed Care and Insurance division at HANYS, the Healthcare Association of New York State. Mr. Gold works with the payor community, state and federal regulators, and New York State government to address provider issues and has drafted, negotiated, and helped secure major packages of managed care reform legislation that impact external appeals, administrative denials, claims processing and payor practices. He has designed HANYS’ highly regarded Strategies, Weapons, and Tactics programs (SWAT) and coaches hospitals on denials management and contract negotiation strategies.
Melanie Graham, Director Economics, Finance, and Information – HANYShas 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. As a Director for the Economic, Finance, and Information Division at HANYS, Ms. Graham is primarily responsible for researching Medicare statutory and regulatory changes, along with the implementation of the federal health reform legislation and modeling their financial impact on New York hospitals. Ms. Graham is actively involved in educating and informing members of activities related to the Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Program and the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) audits. Her efforts on the RAC and other Medicare audits are used for advocacy purposes to help protect the interests of New York hospitals.
Edward McGill, Director Economics, Finance, and Information – HANYShas more than 25 years’ experience in healthcare finance, with a focus on hospital billing, reimbursement, and claims auditing. He has analyzed and presented on governmental and private payer reimbursement, contributing to published reports on the financial condition of hospitals in New York State, as well as the value of Medicaid to vulnerable populations. These efforts help to inform HANYS advocacy for its membership. He has also represented HANYS on initiatives including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Program, the implementation of Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) reforms, including the Medicaid Global Spending Cap, Health Homes, and Patient Centered Medical Homes.
