Authentic Art Journaling

Illustrate Your Life!

Three hour intense Art Journaling classes run over a ten-week schedule, also available as a technique-packed weekend workshop (January 30-31,2016). This workshop is devoid of rules and brimming with possibilities! It is designed to share the enjoyment ofmixed media techniques from drawing, painting, collaging, stenciling, spraying, stamp carving and printmaking and much more. I teach you how to draw and paint quirky faces and figures, and we layer against collaged backgrounds to make meaningful visual journals. I motivate you to tell your own unique story in words and pictures. Materials Kit & Kaboodle* (upon registration), will get you started and you will need to bring some basic materials from the list provided on registration.

Book of Hours:Planner

Based on the medieval hand-decorated and hand-scribed church books, these hand made journals are a great way to record and reflect on your life events, festivals, holidays, etc., in a monthly account. Carve your own set of ancient printable stamps to use in your journal/planner. Monthly meet-ups with creative others will be well anticipated as we combine writing styles, learn funky lettering fonts and recollections with illustrations, based on your monthly events. This is a great one for memory keepers and social artists alike, and both beginners and more confident artists are welcome. You can join anytime, any month, andthe following months we will meet monthly, 2 hours (300rmb) the LAST Monday of each monthonly. (Last Mondays, Monthly: 25/1; 29/2; 23/3). Bookings essential. This will be your most treasured diary/journal yet!

Children's Art Classes

Does your child have a creative eye for detail & love to make works of art? Are they always bugging you to get the messy art box out so they can play around with paint? These 1.5 hourclasses cater for various ages and are divided up accordingly, by age, and/or ability. Children follow varying themes, term by term, and are guided through the elements and principles of design with hands on creative activities,in a variety of art techniques & mediums. These classes are currently running after school Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays,(NEW-parent & child), and Fridays! All materials Kit & Kaboodle*are provided weekly with a one time only (OTO), materials fee (200rmb). Currently we have a few spaces available in all areas, (Friday FULL-waitlisted!), so please register early to secure your place, as places are limited!

Private Tuition

Are you, or your art enthusiast, or your senior student, looking for guidance or to extend their time preparingpieces for major exhibitions, portfolios or university applications? Are they overwhelmed with art history yet at the same time fascinated with the masters and intrigued by their techniques? Let me custom design a program unique to the course focus, personal interest, and technical ability, and work on fine-tuning their major works and professional art portfolio presentation. I will build their artistic skills and techniques to enhance their creative potential, confidence and understanding. Private 1:1 lessons 2h minimumare available Tuesday, 4:00pm-6:00pm and on weekends by appointment.

Smash Books & Junk Gypsy Journals

This ‘no rules’ class is for those wanting to rekindle their artistic flame. For the traveler and memory keeper in you, who holds onto the ticket stubs, theatretickets, and boarding passes, and loves to keep moments alive for years! Let me show you how to turn all of thesetickets, labels, and tags into beautiful creative displays and layouts in your own Smash Book/Junk Journal, which will keep the memories alive forever. Start gathering your collage clippings and ephemera! Learn to combine various mixed media techniques in this creative two-hour workshop for ten weeks.

Fabric Art & Surface Design

This class is all about fabric art and surface design and application. Your kit includes two fabric items to get you started. You will learn to understand specialized materials, which are compatible with fabric. Learn creative ways to personalize fabric garments and accessories. This workshop is taking your creativity to the next level and is recommended for those with a bit of creative experience, although beginners are also welcome to join us! We use specific techniques taught in stamp carving, printmaking and fabric design, as well as adapt our beautiful designs to wrapping paper, and designing our own home wares. Friday 9:30am-12:30pm

Printmaking:

Draw. Carve. Stamp. Print. Repeat.

This is a printmaking workshop for all abilities and we create our own stamps and for paper and fabric. Learn the traditional and ancient printmaking technique of relief printing from a carved block. We will create multiple stamps based on your unique designs and learn how to print a series, limited editions as well as paper crafts & fabric repeats. This is a very rewarding technique to learn and has multiple applications.

Stencil Stampede

Originally designed for street art and signage, stenciling has made a huge impact on artists across the board. Learn to create amazing designs for your pages as you layer stencils, create backgrounds, design, cut and create your own unique stencils for multiple uses on various paper and fabric projects. This workshop is also very popular with all ages, particularly with boys, so secure your place early. About FACE

This class is all about turning your art around as the name suggests. From beginners to more advanced, About FACE is about cradling your fear of capturing the perfect portrait, and drawing faces in a slow and methodical approach. You will be taught the science behind mapping facial proportions, as well as brushing on human anatomy. You will be guided to use observation as a key to improving how you ‘see’. We will experiment with various facial expressions, angles and perspectives, as well as adding depth of emotion to your work. We will learn various effects by experimenting and using and multiple mediums. Faces add drama and whimsy to your artworks and art journals. The aim is to develop and personalize your own unique style of drawing the human face by expanding your artistic possibilities. Thursday 10:30am-12:30pm

Sketch & Sip

Adults only! This relaxed Monthly Sunday afternoon allows you to work at your own pace on your own project. It gives you an opportunity to meet and work amongst creative others and mingle in a creative atmosphere. It is very informal and the 50rmb just covers your glass of wine and light snacks. Please bring any materials you wish to draw with, and your sketchbook and art journals. Tables will be set up with your basic supplies like cutting mats, water containers and pencils. It is advisable you bring everything you will need although there will be basic drawing materials available. This is a great opportunity to see casually what others are creating, or experimenting with, and to develop the insatiable urge yourself to think up and create inspiring new works.

Plan-it Organisation Planner 365!

Getting organized has never been so much fun. This is a fun workshop for creative’s andobsessive organizers alike to keep a creative spin on your everyday. You must have your own 2016 Diary (or calendar, planner or note book), pre-purchased to participate and to bring along to work in. Diaries with a week to a double page opening are myfavorite, but we all have ourpreferred styles. Most of the materials are supplied in this monthly casual creative, 100rmb pay-as-you-go social workshop to keep you on track andcreatively organized with social & school events. We all have such busy lives, sometimes it’s hard to keep up! If it's not in the diary, it doesn't exist, right? Use beautiful washitapes, stamps and paper to add tabs, secret pockets, flip out pages and more, tocolour-code & customize your new 2016 planner, one month at a time! Your own planner is essential.Busy lives need RAINBOW coded planning & organization! Fun and social!

Children & Teen Parties

Sometimes there is never enough time to come up with a creative art activity for your child's party. Let me take off the pressure by custom designing a unique theme-based party activity for you or your child! Allow 3 hours minimum for creative time, with packages available for longer activities, to suit all ages and themes. Teenager (& Teens-at-Heart) classes are also available for special occasions, Milestones, Hen's nights, graduation parties, sleepovers, birthdays, farewells and holiday activities, all custom made to suit. (*Minimum numbers apply, all materials supplied)! I teach the class and take away all the mess and fuss, leaving you in peace! Early bookings recommended. Ask me about special custom made themed packages.

Artist Retreats

This is an indulgent creative weekend away, with other creative’s and we create juicy art journals and work on location, drawing on new skills and techniques taught and the environment around us. We combine many new creative mixed media techniques and allow our creative spirits to flow into the late hours, and sleep, eat, sip, create, repeat, on location. Some of these retreats are also outside of China. Last year myartist retreats were at Norah Head Lighthouse, NSW Australia, and currently booking June, 2016, Sydney Australia; Perth, Western Australia, July, 2016, Shanghai, Beijing, Xian, China September2016; and Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia July 2016, Italy TBD 2017. Update those visas!

*A non-refundable 300rmb deposit is required to reserve your spot in any class.

* Each class uses quality artist materials and there is a one-time-only fee of 150rmb at the start of each term unless indicated otherwise for the ongoing materials kit. Each student must bring their kit each week.

* Your fee is paid upfront per term and is renewable at the commencement of the new term. Please check if you are likely to have multiple ‘other’ events, which clash with the same day as your class. I cannot discriminate between reasons for your absence, nor hold your place open indefinitely. All classes will have an extended final ‘make-up’ bonus session, where you can catch up or revisit various techniques taught.

*The balance is due paid in full, upfront, prior to the first week of class.

*Minimum class size is 4 students. Minimum private birthday party is 10 students. Classes will be cancelled and a refund issuedif there are insufficient students enrolled.

*Refunds will not be given if a student discontinues a class that has begun, or if notice of cancellation is given less than 7 days prior to class starting.

*Late enrolments: Subject to availability you may begin a course during the commencement of term and pay a reduced fee.
