Time after Pentecost – Lectionary 15
“Our task is to make disciples for Jesus Christ”
We welcome you to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Thank you for worshiping with us, as we give thanks and praise to Jesus Christ our Lord. If you are new, please introduce yourself to Pastor Katie, and sign the guest book and the pew pad.
The sanctuary candle burns in memory of Sandy Miller.
July's Mission of the Month is the Bathroom Project at First English Lutheran Church.
They are adding a shower to one of their bathrooms to empower them to reach out even more to the Karen-speaking refugees in their midst. Every little bit helps--thank you!
DID YOU KNOW...... Impoverished urban neighborhoods are often in a “food desert”--an area with no grocery stores, where the only food available for purchase is fast food or unhealthy snacks. Without a car, it is impossible for families there to get healthy groceries. On our youth mission trip to Washington DC, we will staff a “pop-up” market to provide free, fresh groceries in a food desert so families can eat healthy, nourishing food. Stay tuned to find out what else we are up to in DC.
The earth has been tilled! It’s garden season! We NEED your help watering, weeding, and harvesting in the St. Peter's garden this year. Please sign up to help on the bulletin board or contact Jeff White for more information.
St. Peter's Farmers' Market is open for business! Our garden produce plus anything you wish to bring from your own gardens is ready for purchase by donation. All proceeds will go to help dig a well in Pastor Grecious' home village of Marirangwe in Zimbabwe. Check the table in the narthex plus the refrigerator for eggs.
The Henry and Lisa Sandefer Family would like to invite the congregation to a picnic celebration at their home, 5506 Old Oneida Road, on Saturday, 7/23 at 1 p.m. to thank everyone for their support, love and encouragement during their difficult year. See flyer on the bulletin board. Please RSVP to Lisa 337-0534 or 269-8846.
Save the Dates: St. Peter's Vacation Bible School this year is August 8-12 and the theme is “Cave Quest”. If you are interested in helping, please see Betty Browell or there is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex.
The Verona Area Council of Churches Vacation Bible School will be held July 25-29 at Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church. The theme is "Gotta Move!" and kids will learn what it means to follow Jesus. All youth from pre-K to senior high are welcome. Thursday July 28 all are invited to Stone Soup 4:30-6 at First Presbyterian with VBS Closing Program and a Family Fun Night starting at 6. Bring lawn chairs and get ready for music from the kids and from Pastor Kevin Bailey. See the bulletin board for registration forms. We've also been asked to supply some snacks for VBS--please see the bulletin board for a list of items needed.
Messy Church is coming back Wednesday July 27! Join us from 6-8 for a light supper and learning about Jesus' story of how the wise man built his house on a rock. All ages welcome for this hands-on worship experience.
Volunteer Needed: A volunteer is needed as a Communion Assistant at the blended service at 10:00 am on July 31. Please contact Kathy in the office if you can be a communion assistant. Thank you.
Sunday July 31 we are trying something new after worship--a Tailgate Picnic (weather permitting). Here's how this works: you bring a dish to share. After worship, pop your trunk and place the dish there. Everyone gets a plate and wanders from car to car, filling their plate with goodies. Coffee and the gas grill will be on at the front doors. To help this work, on the 31st please park in the main center part of the lot if you bring food. If you do not bring food, please park at the perimeter of the lot. Bring a camp chair or blanket and we'll have a great time!
