Duties: Offshore supervision of demolition and construction activities.

Projects: Maersk Ngujima-Yin FPSO (Woodside Vincent field). Gas reinjection compression M60 module rebuild, on station offshore after major fireevent (2 off Solar Turbines Titan130 drivers and Siemens compressors, 1 destroyed and replace, the other rebuilt).

  • May 21st 2007 to Aug 2009Transfield-Worley (Woodside ISC), Perth Western Australia based.

Position: INLEC Project Implementation Co-ordinator.

Duties: Project implementation. Role varied from peer review, design oversight, planning & estimation, work pack creation, logistics management, through to on site supervision. Utilising TW Eprocs Jobcard module, Worley Parsons EMS, Transfield-Worley EDMS, WEL ALIS, SAP maintenance system etc.

Projects: Woodside Energy Ltd, Karratha Gas Plant Turbine Control Systems Upgrade (TCSU). 6 Gas Turbine Generators, 3 LNG production trains comprised of 5 Gas Turbine Compressors each, and the 4 Domestic Gas GT Compressors (all Nuovo Pignone) upgraded from GE Speedtronics MkIV to MkVI. The F&G systems were upgraded to Detronics EQP. Condition Monitoring System were upgraded from Bently Nevada to Brüel & Kjær. Project budget was approximately AU$140 million, with a duration of 4 years.

In addition, numerous other small budget shutdown projects were successfully completed.

  • Mar 10th 2003 to May 18th 2007 Solar Turbines Australia, Perth & Melbourne based.

Position: Field Service Representative.

Duties: Client liaison and support, yard & offshore commissioning, and field service of the complete range of Solar Turbines gas turbines and driven equipment.

Packages vary from Saturn10 and 20, Centaur40 and 50, Taurus60 and 70, Mars90 and 100, through to Taurus130. Generator, compressor and mechanical drive packages. Extensive regional and overseas travel was required for this role including regular travel to USA for training and experience. 6 months was spent on the Shell Bonga FPSO.

  • Aug 02 to Dec 02 Clough Offshore, Cairn Energy Ltd – India – Surat.

Position: Instrument construction/commissioning supervisor

Project: Lakshmi Field Phase 1, Greenfield’s project for onshore natural gas terminalin Gujaraat Province. The plant consists of slug catching, condensate removal, TEG contact dehydration, and gas compression for pipeline transport using 3 Solar Taurus60 gas turbine compressors, 2 Solar Centaur40 gas turbine HV generators, and sales gas metering. The entire plant runs under the control of Honeywell Plantscape and FSC emergency shut down system. Total project value US$100 million. Manning levels for I/E were 280.

Duties: overseeing an entirely national workforce, covering co-ordination of work, control of work quality, tracking of completions, management of ITP’s / ITR’s, through to liaison with management, and field design to match site conditions.

  • Oct 01 to Aug 02 Broad Spectrum Australia: Inst/Elect and control system commissioning/maintenance of various power generation and minerals processing plants.
  • Aug 01 to Sept 01 Monadelphous Engineering, AngloGold’s Union Reefs Gold Mine (NT). Instrument/Electrical Technician, shiftwork maintenance. CiTect, PLC5 and SLC500.
  • Aug 98 to Mar 2001 Complan Australia: Inst/Elect and control system precom/commissioning of Anaconda Operation’s Murrin Murrin nickel/cobalt ore pressure acid leaching, mixed sulphide precipitation, and refinery. Precommissioning utilised WinPCS completions tracking system.
    The main control system for the plant is Yokogawa Centum-XL DCS with a variety of slave PLC’s including AB PLC5 & SLC500, Omron C200H, Moore Quadlog ESD, and Siemens Step5&7. CiTect is also used on site along with ABB turbine control. Acting as relief Inst/Elect supervisor for one third of the plant.

A rigid permit to work system (modelled on BHP’s system) was enforced on this site, which covers numerous hazardous areas including H2S production, acid plant, H2 storage, Oxygen plant, and GE Power Gen G/T’s.

  • Feb 97 / Aug 98 J.R. Engineering: Inst/Elect and control system commissioning lead, which includes assembly of PLC’s and workstations, and modification of PLC ladder logic. Worked on various gold processing plants.
  • Dec 95 / May 96 McArthur River Mine (lead/zinc):6 months as relief Instrument/Electrical Site Supervisor and Control Systems Eng to modify/configure the Yokogawa Micro-XL DCS control system. Other duties include CiTect, PABX, LAN, WAN and radio system installation and commissioning. Responsibilities covered the entire mine site, ship bulk loading facilities, and overseeing Power Genprovider EDL.
  • Jan 95 / Nov 95 O’Donnell Griffin Electrical Services, Mount Isa QLD. Instrument/Electrical Technician for construction and modification of Osborne Copper Mine & McArthur River Mine. This work included modifying/configuring the Yokogawa Micro-XL DCS. Previously worked at Tom’s Gully NT (Kakadu Resources), Osborne mine QLD (Placer), fabrication of DCS control cubicles, domestic/commercial electrical service and installation.
