Centre & Event Manager Update – 20th September 2016

Licensing & Training: My Personal Alcohol License has now been approved. The campsite license for Pairc Niseaboist has been submitted and the Premises License is ready for submission to next Licensing Board meeting, which is expected to be in December. Occasional licenses can be applied for before this date.

Advertising:

Norman Iain has agreed to take the logo design forward with Nickolai Globe and we have been finalizing the content and structure of the website. An advert has been submitted to the Visit Scotland Outer Hebrides Guide for next season. I have also added the camping spots and Seilebost School hook-ups to two different apps, which were recommended by a motorhomer.

Restaurant: The lease for the restaurant is still under negotiation. To be discussed.

Weddings:Four written estimates have been issued for weddings in 2017. All have now been accepted and deposits paid.

Business Units

We have had an enquiry for the last remaining business unit.

Furniture, Fixtures and fittings:

The Tetrad sofas have been made and are expected early this week. The chairs will be delivered early November. We have ordered a second sample table, which we are expecting in the next week to 10 days. I have taken advice from a local Gallery and received samples for the gallery hanging system.

Laundry Facility

I have been looking at options for a coin operated washing machine in the kiln room, other local groups have found this very popular and relatively easy to run. My proposal is to offer the facility to campers at both WHT sites, tenants at TNM and WHT residents.

Electric Vehicle and chargepoint funding

We are expecting APT to confirm the installation of the electric vehicle charge point as soon as the tarmac is complete. I now have details of two options for funding the seven-seater electric vehicle with Nissan’s support. I have started researching other support available for Community Transport Schemes and taken advice locally. There are several options for funding the vehicle and I will present these to the board when I have all of the options. Nissan are sending an ENV200 for us to use for a two-week period in November.

Opening Ceremony

We haven’t been able to confirm a new date with Ben Fogle yet. I have emailed Julie Fowlis to check her availability for performing at an official opening in March or April.

Other Events

Arts nan Eilean would like TNM to host a film club. The choice of programme would be ours and funding would be available. I have joined the Harris Arts committee and we are looking into a formal partnership agreement. Peter May is interested in an event at TNM on his next research trip to Harris.
