PERSONAL LETTER ASSIGNMENT
Turn on the spell checker (Tools, Options, Speller, Check—Spelling As You Go).
Exercise #1 - Personal Letter
Type a personal letter to a friend/relative asking him/her about getting together over spring break. Spring break begins Friday (after school), March 18 and ends Sunday, March 27. Give your friend these dates and suggest a plan on how to spend fall break (trip, camping, movies, etc.).
The letter must have at least three paragraphs.
Include your address as the return address (2-inch top margin), followed by today’s date.
Include your friend/relative’s address as the receiver’s address. If you are not sure of the address, create a realistic one.
Include a salutation (Greeting).
Include a closing (Sincerely)
Include your typed name (as the sender) a QS below the closing. (Refer to page 124, Green Book.)
DS and type your name, date, PerLetter1, Period HIT CTRL ENTER TO BEGIN EXERCISE #2.
Exercise #2 - Personal Letter
Type a personal letter to Dr. Boyd, Principal, SHHS, explaining your likes/dislikes about ScienceHillHigh School. Feel free to list your feelings as an enumeration within the body of the letter. (Number after completing your list.)
This letter may be forwarded to Dr. Boyd. Remember, it is OK to not be satisfied with everything at SHHS, but state your “dislikes and likes” professionally and I am sure he will listen and respond. I am sure he will welcome positive and negative statements—if stated professionally.
Include your return address at the top, followed by today’s date. (Enter four times after the date.)
Include Dr. Boyd’s address: (This is the letter/receiver’s address)

Include a salutation (greeting) - Dear Dr. Boyd
Include an introductory paragraphthat identifies you as a Keyboarding student in Mrs. Willis’s class. Explain to him that you have been asked to compose a personal business letter addressed to him detailing/explaining your likes and dislikes about ScienceHillHigh School.
Second and third paragraphs: List your likes/dislikes (and why) and suggestions for improvement.
Final paragraph: Conclusion. (Short paragraph summarizing and thanking him for taking time to read your letter.)
Include a closing (Yours truly or Sincerely)
Include your typed name,
Save these two letters on your stick as MyPerLetters.
Print, staple in order and place in the assignment basket.
