A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL SAT TEAM 2002 FOR ITS HARD WORK, PREPARATION, AND DETERMINATION AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM MEMBERS AND COACHES FOR THEIR REMARKABLE PERFORMANCE IN THE FINAL ROUND OF COMPETITION BY WINNING THE 2002 CLASS AA SAT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Chapin High School SAT Team 2002 has won the praise and admiration of their entire student body, faculty, and administration when they succeeded in capturing the 2002 Class AA SAT State Championship; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Department of Education established the SAT competition in 1999 for academically gifted students, and Chapin High School is one of only two high schools in the Palmetto State who have advanced to the state finals all four years of the competition; and
Whereas, the students took a twohour, one hundred eighteen-question exam that was divided into two sections of math and two sections of verbal skills. This competition provided a great experience and rigorous challenge for this outstanding group of young people from Chapin High School; and
Whereas, the Chapin High School SAT Team 2002 consists of Richard Crapps, Charlie Shipley, Lindsey Robertson, Ben Westin, Derek Swindall, Erin Rusaw, Amy Dix, Caroline Nelson, Megan White, Kyle Epting, Patrick Gregory, Parker Melvin, Brandon Bilinski, Emily Nelson, Staci Kubik, Beth Washington, Amanda Young, Jad Taylor, Jennifer Wilkes, Jean Whyte, and Katherine Adams; and
Whereas, the Chapin High SAT Team - 2002 excelled under the guidance of Coaches Jack LeGrand, W.F. Sullivan, and Linda Baldwin. Chapin Principal John Anderson is thrilled with their level of achievement in a competition which highlights some of South Carolina’s brightest young minds; and
Whereas, we are thrilled to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the Chapin High School SAT Team - 2002 and wish all the team members great success in their future scholastic endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend the Chapin High School SAT Team - 2002 and its coaches for their hard work, preparation, and determination and congratulate the team members for their remarkable performance in winning the 2002 Class AA SAT State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the 2002 Chapin High School SAT Team and Coaches Jack LeGrand, W.F. Sullivan, and Linda Baldwin.
