If so, YOU are invited to become a trained facilitator for the Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14.
The researched based federally designated model program, The Strengthening FamiliesProgram: For Parents and Youth 10-14 (SFP 10-14) is a parent, youth and family skills-building curriculum designed to:
- Prevent teen substance abuse and other behavior problems.
- Strengthen parenting skills.
- Build family strengths.
The program is delivered with seven sessions for parents, youth and families using realistic videos, role-playing, discussions, learning games and family projects. SFP 10-14 is also available in Spanish.
The 15 hour training offers instruction on implementing the SFP 10-14, delivered within parent, youth, and family sessions. Family sessions are highly interactive and include role-playing, discussion, learning games, and family projects designed to improve parenting skills, build life skills in youth and strengthen family bonds. The $75 training fee helps cover the cost of training, food and beverages.

What you need to know about becoming a trained facilitator and a team teacher!
Time Commitment:
- Commitment to the facilitator training to be heldenter dates and times. Food and beverages will be provided.
- Facilitate the SFP 10-14 at least once a year.
Support Provided:
- The University of Wisconsin-Extension Strengthening Family Program team of trained facilitators provides the training and Iowa State University.
- Host Sitewill provide support to SFP 10-14 teams of trained facilitators.
- Training will be deliver in Spanish Language(Add if applicable)
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the SFP 10-14 facilitator training.
- Pass a criminal background check through the Department of Justice.
- An interest in helping parents and youth through an educational program.
- Ability to follow the SFP 10-14 structure as presented in the facilitator training.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality for the parent group.
Specific Responsibilities after Training:
- Facilitate the SFP 10-14 at least once per year.
- Make arrangements for SFP 10-14 programs (times, dates, location, child care, etc.).
- Recruit parents to participate in the SFP 10-14 workshop series.
- Publicize the SFP 10-14 workshop series (posters, church bulletins, newspapers, radio, etc.).
- Complete an evaluation and share the results with UW-Extension.
