INVITATION TO SUFFOLK DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
On behalf for Suffolk Hockey Schools Association (SSHA), I would like to invite you take part in the Suffolk Hockey Development Centre 2018-9 Programme.
Why should I come to Development Centre?
The way that EH have designed the Player Pathway, The Development Centre is used to educate players in technical aspects of the game, whereas Academy Centre is used to apply the techniques in game situations and start with the developing of decision making in the game as to what to do and when. Therefore, Development Centre time is when a player can work on the technical aspects of their game with the help of county level coaches. This is particularly relevant to Goal keepers.
Points to be aware of
All the information is on our website including dates, times, payment and how to register. There is no nomination process this year. So, all players are invited within the age groups below. There is an FAQ section so if you have any queries please access this, but if you have any further problems please email me.
- As for last season at both Development and academy centres there will no longer be separate u16 and u17 squads; we will run one age groups for boys and girls.
- Last season we introduced for the first time 2 U12 gateway days as part of the development centre programme. This will allow us to look at U12 and very strong U11s with a view to nominating them for U13 Development Centre.
- We have spread dates for the different age groups across the summer holiday period.
- We have introduced a competitions date for development centre which will form part of the assessment process for selection to Academy Centre.
- Age groups are based on year of birth not school age groups; so:

U13 / 2006 / U16 / 2003
U14 / 2005 / U17 / 2002

Registration
England Hockey (EH) have introduce a new player system which SSHA will be requires deal of amount of time from county administrations to set using in the new system. However, the cut-over from the current system to the new system requires a deal of administration effort from county administration. Additionally, EH have informed SSHA that if an existing player registers on the new system then they will not be able to access the previous system information. Therefore, we are asking parents not to register on the new system until SSHA advise you to (even if you receive an email from EH asking you to sign on). As soon as this season’s Academy centre assessments are completed and published, and you have had a chance to review them and download for your personal records (It would appear that this information is not being carried over to the new system).
Some of you maybe aware that the Government has introduced some new data protection legislation (GDPR) that comes into effect on May 25th, 2018. The new EH system is GDPR complaint
