COVENANT PRAYER CIRCLE GUIDE
True Peace –Miracles
Week of December 24th, 2017
Prayer Focus: Accepting God’s favor.
Scripture: Luke 1:26-38
God sent the angel Gabrielto Nazareth,a town in Galilee,27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph,a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.28The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” 29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. Luke 1: 26-29 NIV.
Mary was engaged in marriage to Joseph, and most likely they were making preparations for their wedding when the angel of the Lord visited Mary and told her that she had received the favor of God and that the Lord was with her. The Bible tells us that she was disturbed with this greeting and wondered what it meant. Many times in our lives we face situations or circumstances that disturb us, fill us with fear, make us lose peace, and forget that God is with us. We ask ourselves the reasons for these things, and we want to find the answers to these situations.
However, the angel replied to Mary not to be afraid. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.31You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,33and He will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdomwill never end.” Luke 1:30-33 NIV.
Mary wondered how this would be possible, because she was a virgin, and the angel explained to her that God would send his Holy Spirit over her and she would become pregnant. He also told her that her relative Elizabeth, despite her old age and that everyone knew her as a sterile woman, was in the sixth month of pregnancy; and the angel affirmed that for God nothing is impossible as it is said in Luke 1:37. Mary answered determinedly that she was the servant of the Lord and that the will of God can be done in her. Mary had peace in accepting the will of God. How many of us can have that Peace when we say to God –Yes Lord, do your will? We must learn and remember that for God there is nothing impossible and that He is always working, doing miracles in our lives.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving us peace even in the difficult situations of our lives. Despite our inability to understand the meaning of the things that happen, we can see your hand through our family, friends and our brothers in Christ. We ask You that our brothers who are going through difficult times will see your hand and find the peace they need. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
