Borel Families,

I can’t believe this is our last Bobcat Blast for the 2016-2017school year. For our students, this year has been filled with new learning, new experiences, great friendships, and memorable performances.As the end of the school year approaches, we want you to know how rewarding it has been to work with your students. We appreciate the support of the Borel community. Our communities’ support and service is instrumental in enhancing the educational experience for all students. Thank you for a wonderful school year. We look forward to seeing our students the first day of school, August 15. Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer break!

Attention Eighth Grade Families -- Please mark your calendars with these important dates:

Eighth grade promotion: Monday, June 12th at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center at 5:30 p.m.

Early release for 8th graders on promotionday -- If you are planning to have your child released early (11:30 a.m.) on promotion day, please return a completed release form to the office. Students without a signed release form will not be dismissed after morning rehearsals.

Promotion Ceremony

  • Final promotion rehearsal at SMPAC will begin at 3:45 p.m. on June 12th. Students must report to the theatre stage no later than 3:45 wearing their gown.
  • The doors to the Performing Arts Center will open at 5:00 after the dress rehearsal on June 12th. Family and guests must present their tickets at the door. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

8th Grade Great America Field Trip will be on Tuesday, June 13th. Students are required to come to school at the regular time and report to their first period class. The buses will leave for Great America at approximately 9:00 a.m. Students will return to Borel at about 5:30 p.m. Students going on the field trip may not be picked up at Great America. Students must return with their classmates on the bus. Please make arrangements to pick up your child in front of Borel at 5:30 p.m. Students not going on the field trip must come to school and will be dismissed at regular dismissal 2:45 P.M.

Sixth And Seventh Grade Field Trips -- will take place on Monday, June 12th. Both field trips are expected back at school before the end of the regular school day so that everyone can catch the bus home. Please remember that if your child is not going on one of the field trips, he/she need to attend school on Monday, June 12th.

Join Borel’s Site Council

  • We have one parent opening
  • Position is held for two years
  • School’s Site Council meets five times (9/26, 11/28, 1/26, 3/20, 5/22), after school from

3:00 - 4:00 pm

  • Site Council reviews and modifies the implementation of Single Plan for Student Achievement for Borel Middle School as well as provide input on the district’s Local Control Accountability Plan(LCAP)
  • Site Council consists of 10 – 12 members. It includes the school’s principal, teachers, staff, students, and parents
  • You must not be employed by San Mateo-Foster City School District.

If you are interested, please submit a candidate statement to Kenyetta Cook at by August 4th. Candidate statements will be put on the ballot for the school community to vote on at Back to School Night on Wednesday August 16th.

Students Transferring Out Of The District -- Please let the office know if next year:

a)You are not going to attend a San MateoFoster CitySchool DistrictMiddle School

b)You are not going to attend a San MateoUnionHighSchool District high school

c)You have a recently approved transfer out of Borel

d)You are going to a private school

Find Those Lost Textbooks And Library Books -- Students whose textbooks are lost or unusable are asked to pay the replacement cost for each book. The cost to replace textbooks ranges between $10 and $80! Please help your student find those library books and textbooks and return to the office. Students who have missing books or fines will not get their yearbook nor will they be able to go to the signing until the books are returned or the fines are paid.

Familias de Borel,

No puedo creer que este es nuestro ultimoBobcatBlast del año escolar 2016-2017. Para nuestros estudiantes, este año ha estado lleno de aprendizaje, experiencias nuevas, buenas amistades, y actuaciones memorables. Al acercarse el fin de año, queremos que sepan lo gratificante que ha sido trabajar con sus estudiantes. Apreciamos el apoyo de la comunidad de Borel. El apoyo y servicio de nuestra comunidad es importante para mejorar la experiencia educativa para todos los estudiantes. Gracias por un año escolar maravilloso. Esperamos ver a nuestros estudiantes el primer día de escuela, 15 de agosto. Les deseamos unas vacaciones de verano relajantes y agradables.

Atención familias del 8º grado -- Por favor, marque su calendario con las siguientes fechas importantes:

Los estudiantes de 8º salen temprano el día de promoción -- Si planea que su hijo salga temprano (11:30) el día de la promoción, por favor complete la forma apropiada y entréguela en la oficina. No se les permitirá, a los estudiantes que no tengan la forma firmada,salir temprano.

Ceremonia de Promoción

  • El ultimo ensayo de promoción en SMPAC comenzara a las 3:45 p.m. el 12 de junio. Los estudiantes deben reportarse a esa hora y llevar puesta su toga.
  • Las puertas de PerformingArts Center se abrirán a las 5:00 después del ensayo con vestimenta el 12 de junio. Los familiares y otros invitados deben presentar sus boletos en la entrada. La ceremonia empezara a las 5:30 p.m.

Paseo del 8º grado a Great Americaserá el jueves, 13 se junio. Se requiere que los estudiantes vengan a la escuela en el horario regular, y se reporten a su primer periodo de clase. Los autobuses saldrán a Great América aproximadamente a las 9:00 a.m. Los estudiantes regresaran a Borel alrededor de las 5:30. Los estudiantes que vayan al paseo no podrán ser recogidos en Great America. Deben regresar en el autobús con sus compañeros. Por favor organícese para recoger a sus estudiante a las 5:30 al frente de la escuela.Los estudiantes que no asistan al paseo deben presentarse a la escuela y la hora de salida será a las 2:45 p.m.

Paseos del sexto y séptimo grado -- serán el lunes 12 de junio. Ambos regresaran a la escuela antes del horario de salida regular de la escuela, para que puedan tomar el autobús de la salida. Por favor, recuerde que si su estudiante no asistirá al paseo,debe asistir a la escuela el lunes 12 de junio.

Encuentre los libros perdidos, de texto y de la biblioteca -- Se pide a los estudiantes que han perdido libros o los han regresado inútiles, que paguen el costo para remplazar cada libro. ¡El costo de los libros esta en un rango de entre $10 y $80!Por favor ayude a su estudiante a encontrar los libros y regresarlos a la oficina. Los estudiantes que no los entreguen o no cubran las cuotas, no recibirán su anuario ni podrán asistir a firmarlo hasta que regresen los libros y/o paguen las cuotas.
