Walking in Others’ Shoes

Expectation: The student will visualize what it is like to be in another person’s position with regards to respect in hallways, classrooms, lunch rooms, bus area, library, restrooms, and during assemblies.

Location: 4th hour classroom.

Materials: shoe worksheet and drawing utensils

Length: 20 minutes

Lesson:

- Teacher will introduce objective of lesson.

o To understand what positive feelings another person can experience all because of how you show them respect.

- Lead a quick review (2 minutes) of respectful behaviors in each of the designated areas.

o Refer to page 9 in student planner.

- Students will each focus on one of the designated areas and illustrate good things that will happen to others as a result of the student showing respect in that area.

o Give examples:

§ Student gets to class on time.

§ Teacher can prepare for next class period.

§ Clean facilities and plenty of supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper).
