Eric McKisick, FEA President, called the meeting to order.

Committee Reports
COOP Training –Steve Coop (HUD) sent an e-mail message to members on January 9, 2012 regarding training offered by FEMA and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) scheduled for April 2-6, 2012. The training will be presented in ADEM’s offices located at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock. If you wish to have someone attend, please contact Mr. Coop as soon as possible ( or 501-918-5704). This will be the only FEA sponsored COOP training offered this year.
Weather Watch Chair–No report. There was a weather incident since the last meeting that resulted in a delayed opening decision.

New Business
Federal Employee of the Year –
- Volunteers are needed to assist in arranging the awards luncheon during Public Service Recognition Week. A message will be sent to agencies asking for volunteers to judge the applications once received. Elizabeth Whitmore (Corps) and Ben Toman (SSA) volunteered to assist with the planning effort. Sandra Otto (FHWA) stated that their agency could provide a judge.
- The 2011 nomination package was provided for review by membership. One suggested change was made by Mr. McKisick regarding the language in the cover letter. No recommendations were made regarding changes to the nomination information or judging criteria. When a point of contact is established to receive the nominations, the package will be sent to all agencies.
Officer Nominations – James Sinnette (FHWA), FEA Vice President, is leaving January 13, and has resigned his position with the FEA. Ben Toman (SSA), FEA Secretary/Treasurer, will assume the position of Vice President at that time. A nominee is needed to complete the current term of Secretary/Treasurer, and a nominee is needed for Secretary/Treasurer beginning with the new term year in May 2012. An e-mail message will be sent to members asking for volunteers.
Public Service Recognition Week – PSRW is expected to be expected to be May 7-11, 2012.
Mr. McKisick asked for a volunteer to serve as PSRW Chair, and to coordinate speaking events at local schools. Caroline Schaefer (IRS) chaired this group last year, and said she would let Mr. McKisick know if she could lead the effort this year.
Future Meetings
Due to upcoming President’s Day holiday, the February meeting will be held on the second Tuesday versus the third Tuesday of the month.
