The Annual Pre-States Gettysburg Invitational

Sponsored by Gettysburg Area High School and the Gettysburg Speech & Debate Boosters Club

Why? A chance for competitors who qualified for PHSSL States, or will be going to compete in Radio Announcing or Impromptu, a chance to work their pieces/cases one more time, or for the first time, before the States competition. For those of your students who did not qualify, it will give them a last chance for revenge.

Where? Gettysburg Area High School

When? March 11, 2017 registration is 8-8:30 AM

Rounds begin at 9:00 AM

Awards Ceremony at 4:00 PM (or earlier!)

*We may have separate HI/DI & persuasive and informative events if numbers accommodate it.

**Congress will run only if at least 6 students are registered. If you know that one or more of your students would be interested in Congress, please email ASAP. Bills due by Feb. 25.

Details:

* Tournament registration will be through tabroom.com and is due Tuesday, March 7 at 5 pm. Please make arrangements with your students to ensure registration occurs on Tuesday, even if schools are closed due to inclement weather. On-site registration will be 8:00 – 8:30 at the Gettysburg HS Lobby (entrance by the flagpole). Changes between the 8th and on-site registration will be charged a $5 fee per change.

* Lincoln Douglas & Public Forum will use the March-April topic.

* Fees are $10.00 per individual competitor. Duo/Public Forum/Parli team entries are $20.

* Judges: 1 for every 1- 3 IE entries and 1 for every 1-2 debate (LD/PF/Parli) entries

Limited number of judges will be available for hire. Fee is $20/judge.

* Preferred registration method is through www.tabroom.com. IF AND ONLY IF you cannot register via www.tabroom.com, then please email your registration to by Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

* Student lunches will be available for purchase. Judges’ light breakfast and lunch are provided.

* Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners and to top non-advancing novices per event.

* We will follow PHSSL rules. * There will be no Double Entries
