LOOKING FOR VOLLEYBALL OFFICIALS
Deb Reamer, Athletic Coordinator in Chinook School Division, is sharing information about the need for sports officials. As in many other areas of the province and country, the South West Athletic Conference (SWAC) is experiencing a shortage of officials. This is true for all of our officiated sports—namely, volleyball, soccer, football, and basketball. As volleyball is one of the sports with the highest participation rate, many schools will be looking for officials in the fall for various exhibition games and tournaments. SWAC will be offering a free officials’ clinic on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School, starting at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a lecture as well as a floor session. While the clinic is free to attend, if you wish to become a registered official with Saskatchewan Volleyball Association, there is a cost. Novice officials have a $20 fee, and the fees increase for a higher level official. Regarding payment for officiating, a first refereeis paid $19.50/match, while the second referee is paid $16.50/match. We welcome any school or community members to attend!
