I am froma townhouse in Langhorne with lily of the valley out front; a red brick colonial in Richboro with a house shaped mailbox and pool out back; a second floor apartment with dozens of flower pots outside.

I am froma hand-tiled fireplace, from messy rooms painted the colors of Miami and where it always smells like something good is cooking, from two bedrooms and tons of laundry with a cat perch and a dog crate.

I am froma building with no windows where teachers go out of their way to be interesting; sometimes unsuccessfully. I am from a beautiful campus where people prayed to a turtle statue during finals. I am from a castle on a hill where rumors circulated that the building was haunted.

I am fromoriginal Nintendo, the Commodore 64 and hopscotch. I am from Barbie, Cabbage Patch Kids, Monopoly and backgammon, Trivial Pursuit and Ouija boards.

I am fromChanukah candles and latkes, brined Thanksgiving turkey with homemade cranberry sauce and the smell of the ocean, bedtime stories and bunk beds with my sister.

I am from“don’t eat yellow snow”, “I think you can do anything”, and “time will heal your wounds”.

I am fromGoodnoes, the Q-mart, St. Mary Hospital, Neshaminy Middle swimming pool on Friday nights, Sesame Place, Grange Fair, Antonio’s, Seafood Shanty, Pineville Tavern, Blue Moose, Ho-Wah and Pat’s Steaks. I am from Richboro andHolland and Philadelphia and College Park. I am from Coventry Lane, Old Hickory Drive,Pine Street, Bennett Place, State Street and Spruce Street.
