10)Program Ideas and Support (From February Minutes)

  1. Employee Recognition program-Draft of peer to peer program written.
  2. Keep it simple. Develop card and on-line template for staff to fill out when they want to recognize a co-worker who is working above and beyond expectations to advance the mission (vision, values and service principles). A card will be filled out by an employee with the co-worker’s name, their own name and a brief description of the reason for the awarded recognition. They will present the card to the employee in person, or in their mailbox. (Management staff should review the board regularly and recognize employees that have been nominated). If the employee would rather recognize the co-worker online they may fill out the Mission Recognition card from the template on their desktop (which Robert will place on everyone’s desktops). The individual who nominates the coworker will then email the co-worker and the co-worker’s supervisor the online card.
  1. The cards should then be placed on the Mission Recognition Board located in the building. At the end of the month a drawing will take place for a chance to win a prize. The online cards will be printed and put on board and then hard copies will be placed on the board. At the end of the month all cards will be returned to the recognized employees. All employees will also be highlighted in the employee newsletter under a new banner Mission Recognition.
  2. S. Rollins suggested that quarterly or annually, management would review the nominee’s names and after a discussion about which one most effectively aligns with our Mission and annual strategy, oneindividual would be chosen to receive outstanding recognition for the year.
  3. Not discussed was the idea of having a Mission Recognition parking spot for the monthly winner. It brings about more recognition for the overall program and would not be difficult to implement.
  4. The criteria will be re-written to simplify requirements.
  5. Storybook, story of good works. Drafting a plan to get employees to share stories of patient testimonies and compile in (note) book style. Most important to make sure that we are in compliance of HIPAA regulations. A story form is being drafted.
  6. As part of an overall plan to create a culture of philanthropy, we are considering the value of offering 1 paid (thru earned time) day off for any employee who volunteers his/her time for a community event in our service area. The earned time day may be to volunteer for a Cornerstone VNA event or for another non-profit or civic event. The employee must represent Cornerstone VNA by wearing a shirt with logo and/or a nametag. More details to follow.
  7. Stewardship and recognition-May 6 is National Nurses’ Day. Outdoor sign reflects this very special day. Issued group email to acknowledge the incredible work of the nurses and entire staff and volunteers.

Thank you for your commitment to Advancing the Mission at Cornerstone VNA.
