EXPLANATION OF ASSIGNMENTS

Assignment #1: Classroom Participation. The model of this course is interactive education. Attendance and active participation in classroom activities is strongly encouraged and will count as an integral part of your grade. 14 points per class will be given to those who respectfully show up on time, actively engage in the class, and stay until the end of the period. As part of the grade points for participation, each student is to share a video clip, music, poem or story related to the course material. A special day of creative learning is set aside for this and will be discussed more in class. Your creative share is limited to 3-5 minutes.

If a student is late, leaves early, or uses a cell phone in class, five points will be deducted. Because class only meets two days per week, attendance is mandatory. Two absences are allowed, three drops the course grade by one full letter grade, four absences drops the course grade two full letter grades. At the fifth absence you will be asked to withdraw from the course. Some exceptions can be allowed for emergencies. All cell phones must be turned completely off.
