Horse Farm Business Project Equine Science 2
Purpose: This project is designed to allow students to learn how to make management decisions based on what they’ve learned in class. The equine business that you and your business partners design should be based on an idea or concept that interests you in the field of horsemanship. For example, your business may cater to the show industry by offering facilities for competitive events equipped with practice arenas, stables, & other areas for guests. You may choose to raise brood mares or run a training facility. Design and layout of the entire farm as well as the buildings will reflect the use and purpose of your business.
Grading: This project is worth 2 test grades and will be graded according to the following rubric:
- Facilities250 points possible
- Farm Layout (visual) Poster, model, etc.....100 points
- Barn & buildings Layout idea on paper.....100points
- Working Facilities (fencing, loading, etc)....50 points
- Group Participation & Presentation100 points possible
- Grade from partner...... 25 points
- Presentation...... 50 points
- Grade from class...... 25 pomts
Prompt: Congratulations! Donald Trump has chosen you to participate in his newest reality hit TV show- The Next American Horseman (or Woman!)! As a part of the show, Trump has given you $1,000,000 to establish your own farm on 600 acres of land in any state you choose. Your property should include the following items- water sources, 2 barns (designed by you & your business partner), pastures with well planned layouts, access & materials.
Your goal is for you and your partner to design a model farm that would “work” in the real world. Be creative and use this cool Million wisely! At the end of the project- you will be asked to present your business idea to the rest of your class-
