The Northwestern UniversityMidwest Academic Talent Search is sponsored by the Center for Talent Development, based at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The NUMATS gives high performing students (score 90% or higher on either the Reading or Math portion of the MCA’s) the opportunity to take an off level standardized test. Sixth grade students are invited to take the Explore test which is normally given to 8th grade students. Seventh and eighth grade students are invited to take the ACT or SAT, internationally recognized assessment tools used for college admission, as a practice test in order to gain some insight into their strengths. Participants will receive information on high school educational programs for gifted students at Northwestern University as well as colleges and universities across the U.S., and in tenth grade, students receive The College Guide magazine.
