Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Remove the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

Oil Pan Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil.
  2. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Coolant Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the flywheel housing.
  4. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.
  5. Remove the right splash shield.
  6. Remove the drive belt.
  7. Remove the A/C compressor lower bolts. Refer to SECTION 1B.

  8. Remove the transmission to the engine brace.

  9. Remove the engine mount strut bracket.

in General Information.

  1. Remove the one bolt attaching the coolant recovery tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the coolant recovery tank and position it aside.
  3. Install the J 28467-360 and raise the engine off of the mount.

  4. Remove the nuts holding the mount to the body.
  5. Remove the bolts holding the engine bracket to the mount.
  6. Remove the engine mount assembly.
  7. Remove the radiator outlet pipe bolts.
  8. Remove the radiator outlet pipes from the oil pan.

  9. Remove the exhaust manifold brace.
  10. Remove the oil pan to the flywheel cover bolt and nut.
  11. Remove the flywheel cover stud for clearance.
  12. Remove the radiator outlet pipe from the lower radiator hose and oil pan.
  13. Remove the oil level sensor connector.

  14. Remove the oil pan bolts.
  15. Remove the oil pan.

  16. Remove the balance shaft chain cover.

  17. Remove the balance shaft chain tensioner assembly.
  18. Remove the oil pump cover.
