Summer Programs 2016 Request for Proposals
The School District of Lancaster is committed to meeting the diverse needs of our students. Summer programs increase student access to quality educational and developmental learning opportunities, healthy meals, and safe spaces to learn. The district has a responsibility to allocate its resources to programs having the greatest impact on student achievement.
The summer program evaluation process has three phases. All components are required and will inform an overall rating assigned to each summer program. Questions may be addressed to Kathi Loferski, Coordinator for Extended Day/Year Programs at or (717) 735-6694.
BEFORE the summer program begins:
Propose a program
ð Read “Summer Programs Request for Proposals”
ð Envision the components necessary for a successful summer program
ð Identify summer program goals, strategies, resources, and outcomes
ð Identify a summer program manager
ð Submit “Summer Program Proposal” to the Coordinator for Extended Day/Year Programs by March 1.
Program is approved (Forms and more information will follow.)
ð Select or design an assessment tool that will measure the level of knowledge and skills that students are expected to acquire and/or apply
ð Schedule an orientation meeting with the building Principal
ð Read “Facilities Use Rental Request Information”
ð Submit “Application and Rules for Use of Facilities”, including requested room numbers
ð Submit “Summer Program Budget Cost Worksheet” (District and district grant-funded programs only)
ð Submit Request for Position Posting (If required)
ð Submit Nondisclosure and Confidentiality Agreement (Each staff requesting access to the district’s network or computers and who is not also a district employee)
DURING the summer program:
ð Collect data relevant to the stated program goal(s) and intended outcome(s)
ð Adjust program delivery to ensure success for all students
ð Prepare a draft “Summer Programs Evaluation Report”
AFTER the summer program ends:
ð Finalize “Summer Programs Evaluation Report” and attach requested program data
o Student roster and attendance record
o Pre- and post-assessment scores
o Assessment tool
ð Include specific evidence to support program claims
ð Submit the Evaluation Report to Coordinator for Extended Day/Year Programs within one month of program last day
