What is the Interact Security Key?
· Interact licensing is handled using the hardware security key shown below. Interact development can be run in Preview Mode; this gives you full functionality for 1 hour before shutting down. Interact runtime however, cannot run without the security key. You will receive a parallel port dongle when you purchase Interact development software. The dongle has two available slots for security keys. The first key is found under a sticker.
· CTC Parker Automation PowerStations have a holder for the security key on one of the boards inside the unit. A clip is shown below. If you wish to run Interact off of a PC rather than a PowerStation, then you will to remove the security key from the PowerStation and transfer it to a parallel port dongle. You can order these dongles from CTC using model number KEY-1000. Be sure to use standard ESD precautions when doing so
· The contents of the security key can be viewed in Windows using the Security Key Utility launched from MachineShop in the startup menu. The utility will not work in Windows 2000 or XP because of their limited DOS functionality.
· If you cannot use your Windows PC to read the security key, then you will have to use the MachineShop Shell on your PowerStation as shown below
