Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to provide a canteen service to students and staff, supplying lunches and snack food for sale. Food must be healthy, hygienically prepared and stored and sold at realistic prices.

Service Delivery

Key Tasks / Performance Criteria
Food Preparation / ·  Manage orders from staff and students
·  Sell food at interval and lunch time “over the counter”
·  Prepare lunches and morning tea and arrange for distribution
·  Provide supper for College Board of Trustee meetings
·  Provide catering for meetings and other activities as requested
·  Provide catering for end of term staff lunches as requested
Cash Handling / ·  Accept payments
·  Count takings
·  Reconcile daily takings against till tapes
·  Receipt takings
·  Deliver takings to the office daily
·  Provide explanations of any discrepancies
Stock Control and Pricing / ·  check all supplies and inform Canteen Manager
·  Ensure minimum wastage
·  Run stock to a minimum at year end
·  Assist with stocktake as required and on the last day of school year
Supervision / ·  Train and supervise student helpers at intervals and lunchtime
·  Maintain routines to ensure maximum control of stock and cash
·  Supervise the canteen assistants
Hygiene / ·  Maintain a high level of food and personal hygiene at all times
·  Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and hygienic state
·  At the end of each term ensure that all food storage, preparation areas and cooking equipment is cleaned thoroughly and to a high standard
Health and Safety / ·  Monitor the work environment and minimise or eliminate any hazards
·  Report any hazards you cannot deal with
·  Monitor the work environment for comfort, warmth and light
Security / ·  Ensure the Canteen is left secure each day
·  Ensure all cash is secure before leaving
Other / ·  Other tasks may be required from time to time as requested by the Principal or Executive Officer or Canteen Manager
