Graduating High School Senior – Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship
DESCRIPTION
The Kiwanis Club of Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda (KCAHYL) awards scholarships to high school seniors who are active members of a Key Club supported by KCAHYL. KCAHYL currently supports the Key Clubs of Canyon High School, Esperanza High School and Yorba Linda High School.The scholarships are awarded to acknowledge the volunteerism of Key Club members in their school and community. The funds are intended for the recipient's initialtuition expenses in the fall immediately following high school graduation.
ELIGIBILITY / REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates are seniors in good standing with both their school and their Key Cluband graduating in June of the current school year. And successful candidates have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent on other accepted scales)for their high school career. Successful candidates will also have completed the scholarshipapplication requirements prior to or upon the stated deadlines.
APPLICATION AND DEADLINES
The application must be completed and submitted timelywith two (2) letters of reference. One reference letter must be written by a community volunteer leader who has worked with the student but is not a current member of KCAHYL. The other reference letter must be written by a current member of the candidate'shigh school faculty familiar with the candidate's volunteerism. The letters must be written specifically for this scholarship application; copies of recommendation letters for college admission are notacceptable. They should be placed in a sealed envelope prior to delivery to the candidate.
The application package, including the application, reference letters in sealed envelopes,and a copy of the candidate's high school transcript, should be assembled for deliveryin a single envelope. All application packages must be delivered in one of two ways no later than April 30th: Postmarked and mailed to Kiwanis Scholarship, P.O. Box 17614, Anaheim, CA 92817 OR hand-delivered to a current officer of KCAHYL.
Also, separately if necessary, but prior to May 31st, candidates must provide proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university as a full-time student (12 units or more). Delivery to KCAHYL must be made by May 31 via US mail or hand delivery as described above.
Applications and all related documents must be presented and delivered in physical form. Delivery via FAX or email is not acceptable.
SELECTION AND PRESENTATION
The successful candidate will be selected in the month of Mayby the KCAHYL Board of Directors or their designees. Successful candidates and all applicants will be notified of the results in a timely manner and scholarship funds will be presented in June at a KCAHYL meeting convenient to the recipients and KCAHYL. Recipients must be present at the meeting to receive the scholarship funds.
