1.06SCHEDULING AND SEQUENCING
- Install new fence and gates prior to demolition of existing fence as shown onDrawings.
- Complete necessary Site preparation and grading before installing chain link fence and gates.
- Interruption of Existing Utility Service: Notify owner of utility 72hours prior to interruption of utility services. Do not proceed with interruption of utility service without written permission from utility owner.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01TEMPORARY CHAIN LINK FENCING
- Unless otherwise indicated, type of temporary chain link fencing shall be Contractor's option. Following types are acceptable:
- New materials or previously used salvaged chain link fencing in good condition.
- Height: 8’-0” (minimum)
- Posts: 2” min. galvanized steel pipe of diameter to provide rigidity. Post shall be suitable for setting in concrete footings, driving into ground, anchoring with base plates, or inserting in precast concrete blocks.
- Fencing Fabric: 2” diamond woven galvanized steel wire mesh. Provide in continuous lengths to be wire tied to fence posts or prefabricated into modular pipe-framed fence panels.
- Privacy Fabric: Temporary fencing shall be outfitted with privacy fabric as directed by owner:
- Color:Green or as directed by Owner
- Material Requirement: Polythylene, 4.9 oz/sq. yd., Burst Strength: 210 psi
- Gates: Provide personnel and vehicle gates of the quantity and size indicated on the Drawings or required for functional access to site.
- Fabricate of same material as used for fencing.
- Vehicle gates:
- Minimum width: 20 feet to allow access for emergency vehicles.
- Capable of manual operation by one person.
- Refer to Section 01 50 00 “Temporary Facilities and Controls” for Contractor responsibilities related to Temporary Chain Link Fencing.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01GENERAL- TEMPORARY CHAIN LINK FENCING
- Installation of temporary fencing shall not deter or hinder access to existing and new hose connections and fire hydrants.
- Maintain 3 feet diameter clear space around fire hydrants.
- Where fire hydrant or hose connection is blocked by fencing, provide access gate.
- Access: Provide gates for personnel, delivery of materials, and access by emergency vehicles.
- Field verify gate locations with Owner.
3.02INSTALLATION
- Chain link posts:
- Post spacing shall be 12’ maximum if using prefabricated panels and 10’ maximum if wire tying mesh to posts.
- Drive posts, set in holes and backfill, or anchor in precast concrete blocks.
- For soft and unstable ground conditions, cast concrete plug around post.
- Posts over pavement: Use steel post plates or precast concrete blocks.
- Gate posts:Usebracingorconcrete footings to provide rigidity for accommodating size of gate.
- Fabric: Securely attach to posts.
- Gates: Install with required hardware.
3.03MAINTENANCE
- Maintain fencing in good condition. If damaged, Contractor shall immediately repair at no additional cost to owner.
3.04FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
- Post and Fabric Testing: Test fabric tension and line post rigidity according to ASTMF1916.
- Gate Tests:
- Prior to acceptance of installed gates, demonstrate proper operation of gates under each possible open and close condition specified.
- Adjust gate to operate smoothly, easily, and quietly, free of binding, warp, excessive deflection, distortion, nonalignment, misplacement, disruption, or malfunction, throughout entire operational range.
- Confirm that latches and locks engage accurately and securely without forcing and binding.
3.05CLEANUP
- Remove excess fencing materials, soil, concrete and any other debris from Site which resulted from installation of fences and/or gates.
