Susan Scarola of DCH Auto Group joins Paula Phillips and Right Road Kids!™ to Help Ramona Elementary School Students Find Their Right Roads.
Oxnard, CA (December 2, 2010) - Susan Scarola has come a long way since her first, very brief career teaching kindergarten, but she had a special chance to revisit that role today. Currently the Vice Chairman of DCH Auto Group – among the top ten auto groups in the United States in terms of new vehicle retail sales – Scarola participated today in the Right Road Kids!™ programs that its founder, Paula Phillips, shared with children at Ramona Elementary School in Oxnard, CA.
Phillips regularly presents her award-winning Right Road self-esteem, character building, and educational enrichment programsin California schools and around the country, wherever teachers call on her. She says it was wonderful to have Ms. Scarola’senthusiastic and wholehearted assistance in both the kindergarten and fourth grade classrooms. “The awesome partnership between Right Road Kids!™ and DCH Auto Group has become a real model for how nonprofits, corporations, schools, and communities can and need to work together to make crucial positive change happen for kids,” Phillips said.
Scarola concurs, "DCH and I have been Right Road Kids supporters for many years now,” says Scarola, “and I was thrilled by the opportunity to participate. It was as exciting and meaningful for me as it was for the children!"
In 2010, Scarola and Phillips were instrumental in forging an even deeper partnership between DCH and Right Road Kids!™, which has resulted in even greater volunteerism opportunities for DCH employees. For instance, just two months ago, Phillips engaged a number of the DCH volunteers to help deliver and unveil 2,500+ books to excited K-6th graders at Juan Soria Elementary School in Oxnard, CA in order to fill their empty school library shelves. While a myriad of Ventura County-based DCH Auto Group employees offer heartfelt support to the non-profit in the form of donations and volunteerism on a regular basis, this was New Jersey-based Scarola’s first opportunity to personally participate in Right Road Kids!™ classroom presentations.
Phillips is on a mission to be there for children at every turn and was thrilled that Scarola would be joining her as another positive role model, especially for the children at the financially-challenged Ramona Elementary School. Scarola was the recipient of the 2008 Women’s Automotive Association International Professional Achievement Award, the 2010 Women Certified Vision Award and was recently selected by Automotive News as one of the top 100 women in the North American auto industry. In her role as Vice Chairman, Scarola spends the majority of her time assisting the Chairman with the strategic direction of the company and making sure the company’s interests are represented in public forums. She is a strong advocate for The DCH Way and DCH’s community endeavors assuring that the company stays true to its core values for its employees and its customers.
Ventura County-based Paula Phillips and Right Road Kids!™ (formerly known as The Dream Fund Outreach) have been working directly with kids in schools, classrooms, and youth organizations throughout Ventura County and around the country for over eighteen years. Through a plethora of award-winning creative programs, the non-profit organization has inspired the self-esteem, character, confidence, and talents of tens of thousands of children and has been instrumental in helping them find and travel their right roads in school and in life. Phillips has been recognized by Congress and the California State Legislature and has received various awards from organizations such as the Conejo Las Virgenes Future Foundation and the National Association of Women Business Owners for her remarkable work with and for children.InNovember 2010, Phillips was honored by the Oxnard School Board for her extensive efforts to assist local schools.
