ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPCOMING EVENTS
PTA/Curriculum Night
Learn more about your child’s upcoming year as well as PTA and school-wide initiatives at our Curriculum Night this Thursday, September 10 beginning at 6:30 PM. Parents should go directly to their child’s homeroom class for the meeting. Each homeroom teacher will be presenting the session two times to allow parents, who have children in 2 grades levels at McKee Road, the opportunity to attend a session at both grade levels. This evening is for parents only. It is requested that students and younger siblings not attend the event. If you’re unable to attend, your child’s teacher will share the presented information with you at a later time.
Thank You Char Bar 7
Thank you to the amazing staff at Char Bar 7 and to all the families who supported our first McKee restaurant night of the year. Our school was able to raise over $100 from this event.
Welcome To McKee Breakfast
All new McKee parents are invited to a breakfast hosted by the PTA on Friday, September 18th from 7:45am to 8:30am in the cafeteria. This is a great opportunity to meet other kindergarten parents and families new to the area. An invitation and more details are to come.
Capital Campaign
Thank you for the strong support of our capital campaign. Have you noticed the rising thermometer’s outside the school? We are over 50% of our goal in the first two weeks. Capital Campaign and Jamboree are the school’s largest fundraisers and provide for technology upgrades, teacher support and professional development as well as structural upgrades. The success of this campaign is critical to the PTA budget and eliminates the need for other supplemental fundraisers such as wrapping paper or magazine sales. We need to finish strong and every gift counts. The suggested contribution is $100 for the first child and $75 for additional children. No donation is too small; 100% of every dollar given supports your child’s school. Please be sure to check your employer’s matching gifts eligibility to maximize your gift.
Visit The School Store
The school store is open and located in the first hallway outside of the media center. Bring your quarters to purchase gel pens, pencils, notebooks and erasers!
Art Supplies
Thank you to everyone who responded to the letter and donated supplies to our new art teacher, Mrs. Arem. Her classroom is now well stocked and the PTA has committed to providing the remainder of items.
Early Release Days
We hope your student is enjoying the start of another school year, as we work to provide your student(s) with a learning environment that will prepare them for college and career. This year CMS is introducing four early release days to the 2015-16 school calendar. Our school will still start at the normal time of 7:45 AM and lunch will be provided. Here are the early release dates:
Oct 7, Jan 20, March 1, and April 20
On Oct 7, we will complete the day at 11:45 AM. Our teachers will use the remainder of the day to participate in professional development workshops that will further strengthen their knowledge and skills. The professional development will go a long way toward adding value to your student’s learning experience during the school year.
Our buses will still complete their end-of-day routes and parents/guardians will still be able to pick up students who are car riders. If you plan to pick up students, please be in the car rider line no later than 12:00 PM. We encourage you to notify your day-care providers or other appropriate parties of these early release dates.
If your student is already enrolled in an After School Enrichment Program (ASEP), there is no need to take any action. If your student is not enrolled in ASEP and you need assistance for Oct 7, you must contact the ASEP site coordinator, Ms. Demetri Pharr, or the ASEP department at 980-343-5567 two weeks prior to Oct 7 to make payment arrangements. This assistance will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Please do the same for the early release dates of Jan 20, March 1, and April 20.
If you have questions, please contact us at 980-343-3970.
