The Bill of Rights Today: Court Cases

  1. Please create a page on your wiki and title it: “Bill of Rights”. On that new page, upload an image that represents the Bill of Rights (in y our opinion).
  1. Then, type your answers to last night’s “Before Reading” Questions directly into your wiki. Title them: Before Reading.
  1. Open your court case from theUS IHandouts page on my wiki page (missbrownmhs.wikispaces.com). It will open in a Word Document. You are going to use Microsoft Word to “mark up” your court case. Utilize the hi-light feature as well as the comment feature. Once you have marked up the ENTIRE text with questions, comments, connections to prior knowledge, etc., please UPLOAD your saved document into you wiki on your Bill of Rights page. Remember to EDIT then choose FILE then UPLOAD FILE and SAVE. Directions can be found on my wiki under “Web 2.0 Tools”.
  1. Once your case has been uploaded to your wiki, title it with the name of the court case! Then, write a 5-7 sentence summary of your case below your uploaded word doc. Explain how your case relates to the Bill of Rights. What amendment does it pertain to?
  1. Next, you are going to pair up with another person who had the same Case as you. Sit next to one another and ADD their mark ups to your own Word doc. Using a DIFFERENT COLOR.
  1. When you are done sharing your case mark ups, you and your partner will work to create a 30 second “animoto”. Animoto is an online video program that allows you to make mini videos/slides with pictures and text. The link is under the Web 2.0 Tools page in my wiki. Play around with it, sign up, and let me know if you have questions getting set up. For now, only one person needs to create an account in your pair. Eventually, everyone will need one.
  1. Your animoto should be a slide describing your case and the amendment it is referring to. Be creative. Use both text and visuals and pick a song that goes with your theme (as best as you can). Do not worry if you do not finish right away. Animoto saves your work and you can return to it at a later date!
  1. If you do finish, please embed your animoto on your wiki page. If you need help doing this, let me know!
