Primary Parliament is back! - Primary Parliament returned this November with sessions at The Council House for Year 5 and 6 children attending Nottingham City primary schools. The theme of ‘Learning and Earning: Education, Work and Training’ was explored through a solar-powered vehicle project. The task saw children designing, building and marketing an eco-vehicle of the future - all in the space of a day.
Innovative cars, buses, bin lorries and ice cream vans were created, with a focus on renewable energy - the sun even came out on the Friday session, enabling the prototypes to whizz across the floor. The levels of enthusiasm and engagement were incredible throughout and the product launches in the afternoon, hosted by The Sheriff and Cllr Mellen, were a triumph. A huge thank you to all of the Primary Parliamentarians who took part and to all of the staff who enabled the event to happen. The next Primary Parliament sessions will take place on Friday9th March andWednesday 14th March 2018 – if your school is interested in attending, please contact:
Urgent and important stories...!
30 hour codes - It is likely that a high number of codes have still not been re-checked by parents, therefore they have fallen in to the grace period due to not re-checking rather than a change of circumstance. A reminder that codes need to be re-checked as soon as possible in order for those eligible children to continue receiving the entitlement in January. Once a parent has re-checked, the entitlement dashboard can be updated by clicking on the ‘re-check now’ button, this is also automatically updated at 7am each morning. The colour code will change, once you have refreshed your screen.
30 Hour Offer in the Spring Term 2018 - Please remember that parents eligible for a 30 hour place in Spring 2018, should ideally get their eligibility code before the end of November, in good time for their child starting in January.Parents already accessing the 30 hour offer need to reconfirm their eligibility every 3 months to ensure they keep their place. There are Childcare Choices posters on the Early Years website to help you share this information with parents:http://bit.ly/2zleMIM
