THE BRIGHOUSE JUNIORS TOURNAMENT 2017 – THE RULES

A fee of £30 will be payable by each team taking part in the tournament. For two teams the fee will be £50.

Any team whose application to play in the tournament is not successful shall have any monies paid refunded in full.

Once a team is accepted into the tournament, the £30 fee becomes non-refundable (unless the whole event is cancelled).

The tournament shall be staged 1st & 2nd July 2017, split into two sections per day –

Saturday 1st July: Girls Under 7s, Under 9s & Under 10s – morning,

Girls Under 12s, Under 13s & Under 14s – afternoon.

Sunday 2nd July: Under 6s, Under 7s & Under 8s – morning,

Under 9s, Under 10s & Under 11s – afternoon.

The starting times for the first games on both days are: morning – 9:30am, afternoon – 2pm.

Teams must arrive, be ready to play, and be registered with tournament control at least fifteen minutes prior to the stated start times.

It is envisaged that the non-competitive age group competition will comprise 12 teams, each playing in two groups of six teams, with all group matches of 10-minute periods, though this may be amended as necessary.

Age qualification is as for the 2016/2017 Season.

The tournament will involve matches of six-a-side football in accordance with the FA Laws of mini-soccer.

SPECIAL RULE: At ALL age groups, the goalkeeper will be required to THROW the ball to resume play from ANY dead ball situation. The goalkeeper may throw under-arm or over-arm BUT the thrown ball MUST NOT directly enter the opposing half of the field of play. If the ball is thrown directly into the opposing half then a FREE KICK to the opposing team will be awarded on the centre spot of the half-way line.

Teams shall have a maximum squad size of 8 players for each game and a minimum of 6 players. Any amount of substitutions can be made during each game with the referee’s permission.

A player cannot play for more than one team in any section.

If there is a clash of colours the team named second for the fixture will change strip (bibs acceptable)

The referee will record the result of the game and pass this information to the tournament control.

Rules specifically applicable to the competitive tournament age groups

All age groups will have 2 groups of 4 & will include play-off games with – likely format (subject to change) - the winners of Group 1 playing the Runners Up of Group 2 and vice-versa. The final will be contested between the winners of these two matches. Teams finishing 3rd & 4th in each group will have further games to determine who finishes 5th to 8th in their section. NB: The duration of the play-off games and final will be 2 x 7 minute periods with a 2-minute half time interval. If necessary, play-off games will include 2 x 3 minute periods of extra time. If no definite result is obtained after extra time then a round of 5 penalty kicks will be taken followed by “sudden death” penalty kicks if required.

Brighouse Juniors FC does not accept any responsibility for any injury to any player, or loss or damage sustained as a result of the day’s tournament activities.

Entry, and acceptance into the tournament, is conditional on participating teams agreeing to these rules.
