BUS 470 - Class Participation Self Assessment

I assess your performance on a daily basis and I expect you to do the same (assess your own performance). You have the option of performing a voluntary self-assessment of your class participation to assist me in assigning your overall class participation grade. If I do not receive a self-assessment, I assume that you are deferring the assessment to me.

If you choose to conduct the self-assessment, I expect you to use the class participation criteria listed on my web site. This includes the various levels of content, process and frequency. You should provide a numerical score and a narrative description supporting your content, frequency and process scores.

For example:

Jane Smith

January 10-15

(Circle one description for each row. At the bottom of the matrix assign yourself points for content, process and frequency. The weekly maximum is 1 point for each category.)

I have made a minimum of three substantive comments in each class based on my case analysis and chapter preparation. I see my ability to follow the general flow of the discussion as an area for improvement. This is usually because I want to express what I found to be important based on my prior preparation.

I do not have a firm grasp on the value chain and how to derive low cost or differentiation strategies.

You can also add additional notes to me about areas where you feel less prepared or comfortable. This will enable me to help you learn and apply the material.

You have the option of attaching this to an email or using email directly. Please note that you can copy and paste this matrix from the web site and attach it to your email or a Word document. Make sure that you include your name when you send me the email.
