Expression of Interest – Bariatric surgery clinical and operational reference group

The Clinical Excellence Division a part of Queensland’s Department of Health, is forming a new reference group on bariatric surgery clinical and operational. They are seeking one consumer to sit on this reference group to provide a consumer perspective on the development of an obesity pathway.
The aim of the reference group is to develop an obesity pathway from primary care to specialist care and back to primary care. The pathway may include bariatric surgery where that is appropriate.
The membership of this group is still being finalised but will include specialists, nurses, allied health, surgeons, GPs, department staff and a consumer.
Key areas of this group’s work will be the interface between primary care and specialist care and the pathway development for management of obesity.
The consumer must not currently be on a Queensland Health waitlist for bariatric surgery.
Meetings: Meetings will probably be heldquarterlyand the body of the work will start on 1 July 2017 and finish on 30 June 2019. At this stage no meeting times/dates have been chosen as this reference group is still in the early phases.
Location:Meetings are offered in-person or via teleconference – the consumer can select which they prefer on each occasion. For those who attend in –person, the meetings will be held at the Qld Health Building, 15 Butterfield St, Herston. Opposite the RBWH.
Remuneration: The consumer representative will be remunerated in line with Health Consumer Queensland’s Remuneration Position Statement.
