Reform, Cultural Renaissance, the Growth of Industry in the Antebellum Time Period (Pre Civil War)
Directions: As a group you will create a presentation that will briefly summarize key economic and social concepts from the Antebellum Era. The group needs to come up with a thesis regarding the key issues of the time period. Each person in the group will have to pick three primary sources from the time period and break down the documents using the AP PARTS method. During the presentation the group will have to discuss the connections between all of the documents (there will be a total of 12).
The primary sources should focus on the following topics:
· Second Great Awakening / Influence of New Religious Groups
· Labor Reform
· Abolitionists
· Women’s Rights
· Temperance
· Social Reform (Education, mentally ill and prison)
· Transcendentalists / Anti Transcendentalists
· Utopias
· Early Industrial America
· Hudson River School
· Any other major artists, writers, or musicians from the time period
