SUBJECT: SITUATION REPORT ON STORMS #7

OVERVIEW – Flooding is occurring across southern Wisconsin as many locations are reporting flash flooding and river flooding. The National Weather Service expects heavy rain, scattered thunderstorms, strong winds and hail to continue to move across southern Wisconsin this afternoon. Additional storms are expected to cover the entire state overnight. An additional 2-4 inches of rain are expected.

Wisconsin State Patrol – The State Patrol will have 3 strike teams in place by 2:00 p.m. today. Teams will be located in Grant, Vernon, Crawford, and Richland Counties assessing road damage. Many roads are closed and underwater. Highway 35 has had some debris from mud slides.

Department of Natural Resources – DNR Dam Safety are monitoring several dams. Residents below the Primmer Dam in Vernon County have been alerted about a potential evacuation. Residents near the Saylesville Dam in Waukesha County have also been alerted. DNR is also concerned about the Danville Dam in Dodge County along the Crawfish River. Several communities have contacted the DNR for small pumps.

Red Cross - Red Cross will open a shelter in Reedsburg at Pine View Elementary, 1121 Eighth Street.

Crawford County - Major areas of concern are Steuben and Gays Mills.They have a number of county roads closed with debris and washouts at this time.

Milwaukee County - City of Milwaukee has activated the city EOC as of 11:15am. The city is experiencing major street flooding. Milwaukee County is conducting damage assessments. They have set up a hotline to report damage at 414-278-3000. Oak Creek has declared a State of Emergency as a result of flooding. There are two shelters in Oak Creek that are opened at the National Guard Armory and the Salvation Army facility.In addition, Cudahy and South Milwaukee are also experiencing flooding

Richland County - Richland County has numerous roads closed due to flooding. The Richland County EOC is open. They have sandbag operations underway.

Langlade County - City of Antigo had straight line winds last night. Numerous trees were down and some homes with roof damage. Power has been restored and some phones are still out.

Waukesha County - Waukesha County Emergency Management reports flooding in a neighborhood in Dousman.

Washington County – The Washington County Emergency Management Director reported urban flooding in the Kewaskum area.

Winnebago County – Officials are reporting street flooding in Oshkosh.

Dane County – Dane County Emergency Management is reporting sporadic flooding across the county. This includes flooded basements and flooded streets.

The State Emergency Operations Center remains activated. It is anticipated that the EOC will remain activated overnight.
