WCGA ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
MAY 24, 2011
THE PENINSULA CLUB, CORNELIUS, NC
IN ATTENDANCE: Nancy Mayer, Carrel Westlake, Sharon Adrien, Donna Johnson,
Sue Glass, Betsey Mitchell, Teddy Stockwell, Carole Stone, Vicki DiSantis, Lea Anne Brown, Anne Washington, and Tiffany Priest.
There were 23 members present at the start in addition to the above board members. At the end of the meeting, there were 39 members present, plus the board members. This was a substantial increase over last year.
President Nancy Mayer called the meeting to order at 6 pm.
Nancy welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced the board members.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Since copies of last year’s minutes of the annual meeting were on each table, a motion was made by Carrel and seconded by Sharon to dispense with the reading of the 2010 Annual Meeting minutes. Vote: Motion passed.
VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Carrel reported the following sites and dates for future tournaments:
2012 Yeamans Hall, Charleston, SC May 14-17
2013 Treyburn CC, Durham, NC May 20-23
2014 Wachesaw, Murells Inlet, SC May 19-22
TREASURER’S REPORT: Donna Johnson reported a checking account balance on May 31, 2010 of $10437.31. Disbursements were $9106.47 and receipts were $7116 (including $900 reimbursement from WCGA Junior Girls). Checking account balance as of May 15, 2011 was $8446.84.
These figures do not include the entry fees or paid outs for the Championship.
She also reported that we have 175 member clubs.
Donna then explained that our budget is allocated on a percentage formula based on the
previous year’s receipts; 15% Championship, 30% Carolinas Team, 20% Junior girls, 30% administration, and 5% Reserve fund.
TOURNAMENT ADMINISTRATOR: Betsey reported that the Championship was a sell out and that we had a waiting list. The average handicap index for the Championship division was 2.2; Carolinas division was 10.5, and the Senior Division was 3.6. She said that next year the entry forms would be on line
JUNIOR GIRLS’ REPORT: The WCGA Junior’s Girls’ Golf Championship was held July 11-13, 2010 at the Country Club of Whispering Pines in Whispering Pines, NC. Thirty-eight girls participated.
Medalist in the Championship Division (5708) yds.) was Taylor Dodson of Aiken, SC with a qualifying round of 2-under par 70. Medalist in the Junior Division (5194 yds.) was Leigh Oakely of Cheraw, SC, with a qualifying round of 83. Medalist in the Sub-Junior Division (2460 yds.) was Amy Wooten of Clinton, NC with a 9 hole qualifying score of 37.
Taylor Dodson won the 2010 Championship with a two-day total of 147 (70-77). Leigh Oakley won the Junior Division, with a two-day total of 160. Amy Wooten won the Sub-Junior Division with a two-day total of 77 for 18 holes.
The 5th WCGA Junior Girls’ Championship will be held July 10-12, 2011. We will again be hosted by the Country Club of Whispering Pines in Whispering Pines, NC.
TEAM MATCHES: Lea Anne introduced the members of the 2010 team that were present. She stated that members of the team must have a handicap index of 6 or less. She also reported that the Carolinas won in 2010, 66-42.
Donna Neely hosted the opening dinner at her home. Lea Anne thanked everyone for their help identifying members of past Team photos.
TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN: Sue Glass thanked everyone for participating in the Championship.

A motion by acclamation from the floor was made to accept the slate of officers as presented by the board. Motion seconded from the floor. Vote: Motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 pm.
