Chapter 1: “What is Integral Management and why do we need it?”

A few Guidelines when Writing your own OD Handbook

Simply write your own text in between the slides. Don´t tell us to read what the slide says! Instead you should explain it in your own words. This is an essential aspect of this exercise. You can never preach and teach a message like this unless you have first digested it thoroughly….

This means you should always write as if you were speaking to someone who is new to this material. It is your job to explain what Integral Management is all about. It is your job to enroll the listeners. Imagine that you are speaking to a number of newcomers to your company and it is your job to explain how the OD-process works! So, you have to take it from the beginning….

Always begin by you explaining WHY you are talking about “the message of this particular slide”. Set it in the wider context of the OD-process as a whole and your company strategy.
Then explain carefully what the slide is saying. Don’t forget the important details!
If possible try to use an example from real life to illustrate your point.
Finish up by summarizing and drawing conclusions. What can we learn from this slide?

In the process of doing this you will – quite naturally – start to integrate the principles and methods of Integral Management with your own hard-won knowledge and experience. This is what this whole writing exercise is all about!

Note 1: Please feel free to enlarge or reduce the size of the slides. (Just click on the lower right corner of the slide and you can give it the size you want.) When you write you may want to enlarge them to be able to read the text, but when you send it to us we recommend you make them smaller. It saves some space and makes it easier to gain a holistic sense of your text.

Note 2: If you come across a slide that you have already explained – in an earlier chapter – you can suppose that your listeners have already understood the basic message of that slide. You don’t have to say the same thing all over again! Instead, when a slide shows up again, we want you to use its “core meaning” to throw light upon the main ideas discussed in this new chapter.
