Welcome Back Roswell North Families!
Since we are in the midst of cold winter weather, now would be a good time to remind everyone that school closings are always posted on the FCBOE website:
Roswell North Oratorical Club
Do you have a child that has the gift of gab? Are they looking for a way to express themselves and develop their public speaking skills at the same time? Interested 4th and 5th grade students are invited to come out and join the Roswell North Oratorical Club. We’ll write and deliver speeches about the topic “How My Passions Impact The World.” Mrs. McCoy & Richardson will work with you to develop ideas, write your speech and practice. We’ll have a school competition Thursday, March 6. One boy and girl winner from our school competition will move on to compete with students from other schools at the North Perimeter Optimist Club’s club level competition. Practices will be held each Thursday from 2:30-3:30 in room 32. Practices will run January 16-February 27. See Mrs. McCoy or Mrs. Richardson or visit the front office for a sign-up sheet.

Thank you for your support of the Bears Care program in 2013.We were able to assist several students and families with food, clothing, holiday gifts, medical bills and much more. In 2014 we hope to continue this effort as well as enhance our tutoring program.
Please have dinner out at The Roswell Tap with your family and friends.. The Tap will donate 5% of your bill back to Bears Care all year long. All you have to do is mention the school to your server and/or show loyalty card which will be in your child's Friday Folder this week. Also for the next few weekends the Tap is donating 5% of the entire restaurants patronage during the NFL playoff games, with a special celebration for the Super Bowl.... more to come on that.

5th Grade Parents
Over the weeks and months ahead, there will be several opportunities for you to learn about Crabapple Middle School. On February 10, CMS staff will visit Roswell North at 6:30 PM for a general information meeting for parents. A list of additional transition activities and dates can be accessed by going to our website .
Please note that you are welcome to, but not required to attend every transition meeting and event. Our transition meetings, PTA tours, and student events have been created so that families have the flexibility in their busy schedules to attend sessions most applicable and accommodating to them. Additional information about transitioning to Crabapple Middle School will be shared on our school website and in elementary school newsletters throughout the second semester. If you have any specific questions about sixth grade transition dates and events, please contact Ms. Hina Patel, CMS sixth grade counselor via email or phone 770-552-4520.
No Lunches with Students
The Music department will be using the stage for rehearsals during the week of February 3, and from February 24, on to March 5.
Deadline is Feb. 17 for Hardship Transfers
Applications are available for parents who wish to apply for a 2014-15 hardship transfer or to renew a current hardship to another Fulton elementary, middle or high school. Parents can use an online form, available through the “Parents” section of school system’s web site, to enter their information and then print it to obtain signatures and/or supporting documentation. Although using the online form will help expedite processing time, applications also can be picked up at all schools as well as the Fulton County Schools Administrative Center.
The deadline for submitting a transfer application is Feb. 17, 2014, by 4:30 p.m., with no exceptions or extensions granted. All requests must be received or postmarked by this date and time. Applications can be sent by mail, fax or hand-delivery to:
Fulton County Schools’ Student Assignment Office
c/o Meadows Operations Center
5270 Northfield Blvd.
College Park, GA 30349
404-763-5547 fax
In addition, school system employees who have children receiving an employee hardship transfer must renew their request through the Student Assignment office. Instead of employees submitting an employee verification letter from their school or location, this year the Human Resources Department will verify employment directly with the Student Assignment office.
The Feb. 17 deadline applies to students and parents seeking a hardship transfer for medical reasons, curriculum differences, and child care situations or for employees’ children.
Parents with questions or who need more information about hardship transfers can contact the Fulton County Schools’ Student Assignment Office at 404-763-5550 or visit

Volunteering at RNE
FCBOE appreciates our volunteers. Because the safety of our children is of utmost importance, , it is a Fulton County requirement that ALL volunteers have these 3 documents on file; Volunteer Safety Information form; Certificate of Completion if the Child Abuse Reporting Protocol; copy of your photo ID. Many of you have not completed the online “Child Abuse Reporting Protocol for Fulton County System” training video. Print the Certificate of Completion at the end of the quiz. You can access this information on the front page of the RNE website at
