Text: A Guide to Web Development Using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004, Lawrenceville Press

Goals

Web design will be the focus of the Advanced Computer Applications course. Students will learn to analyze web pages and author web pages using Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia Dreamweaver. A basic understanding of the HTML language will be introduced through the development of their web pages. Students will learn to download images and video from a digital camera and flatbed scanner. Photoshop will be used to enhance graphics. Furthermore, students are introduced to the history, terminology, and concepts of networks, the Web, and the Internet.

INCLUSION OF INTERNATIONALISM

The class will include students working towards an IB diploma, as well as, those who will not necessarily be IB students. However, general topics related to Information Technology, such as, ethical behavior, piracy, copyright laws, privacy issues, security, and how these issues impact our society will be incorporated into the course. A major emphasis will be on using the technology in a responsible manner that will allow for the development of successful skills for all students.

INCORPORATION OF CATHOLIC VALUES

Integrating Catholic values and morals in relationship to issues we face in technology today will be at the foundation of the course. By educating students about global technology issues in an environment which teaches and practices our Catholic Faith, it is my hope that students will gain knowledge which will lead them to make responsible and moral decisions in regard to their use of technology.
