JOB TITLE:EVENING PROJECT WORKER – 5.30pm – 11.30pm (4 days)

6pm – 11.30pm (1 day)

LOCATION:Dove Cott House

RESPONSIBLE TO:FOYER MANAGER

WORKING PATTERN: 5 DAYS OUT OF 7 (This includes weekend working)

Job Summary

Assisting the Foyer Manager in the day-to-day running of the Foyer / Parent & Child scheme. Providing information, support and life skills advice to Foyer residents and offering support and signposting services in relation to training, education and employment.

Key Tasks

1.0Operations:

1.1To assist the Foyer Manager ensuring the smooth operation of the Foyer / Parent & Child

on a day-to-day basis.

1.2To provide planned and flexible intensive housing management services meeting the requirements set by Supporting People.

1.3To actively work with the Foyer Federation Accreditation requirements in order to support the Foyer through the Accreditation Process.

1.4To ensure all aspects of the Quality Assessment Framework (QAF) are met in line with Supporting People requirements.

1.5To operate the procedures which are in place for the effective management of the Foyer. These will include those that have been developed for dealing with any breach of licence conditions.

1.6To work with residents to maximise resident participation and to build strong links with other residents in the community.

1.7To ensure accommodation is furnished and maintained to letable standards.

1.8To liaise with Association staff, residents and contractors to ensure accommodation and communal areas are maintained to agreed standards.

1.9To monitor CCTV to ensure the security of residents, on site staff and Swan property, and address as necessary issues of Anti Social Behaviour.

1.10To perform administration tasks essential for the daily operation of the Foyer / Parent &

Child scheme.

2.0People:

2.1To undertake assessments of young people/ young parents applying for accommodation. To draw up personal development / support plans with the young people / young parents and assist in monitoring the progress of these plans.

2.2To organise regular planned meetings with young people / young parents, on an individual and group basis, to offer them information, encouragement and the practical advice necessary to help them achieve their personal development / support plans.

2.3To provide support, guidance and training in respect of life skills necessary to secure and maintain a tenancy.

2.4To assist in the sourcing and providing of training that will enable residents to develop the skills necessary to secure employment, and facilitate links into other community resources where on site training cannot be provided.

2.5To provide additional signposting services to residents in respect to health, childcare, welfare, leisure and other non-housing issues.

2.6To network effectively with local voluntary and statutory agencies to provide the best service to residents.

2.7To provide guidance on rent and licence issues to Foyer residents, as directed by the Foyer Manager.

2.8To assist with the operation of the Foyer referral systems, liaising with referral agencies where appropriate.

2.9Liaise with referral agencies and the Foyer Manager in providing lettings information, to report on referrals progress, and to assist resident’s secure more permanent move on accommodation.

3.0Information:

3.1To maintain an up to date record of significant events and ensure residents’ files are updated at all times.

3.2To maintain accurate written records relating to agreed performance indicators.

3.3To work with others to set goals and targets and to contribute to operational plans for the service. To provide regular reports and monitoring of the work of the project as requested.

3.4To represent The Foyer at meetings as necessary.

3.5To attend training events and conferences as necessary.

4.0Other Accountabilities:

4.1To act at all times in accordance with the Association’s published policies and procedures.

4.2To ensure all services are provided within a framework of equal opportunities and recognised good practice.

4.3To carry out any other tasks as reasonably assigned by the Foyer Manager.

4.4Ensure that the requirements of the Data Protection and any other relevant Acts are complied with in carrying out duties of the post.

4.5Ensure that any expenditure incurred or committed is in accordance with the approved budget provision and with the agreement and permission of the budget holder.

4.6Promote the Association in a positive manner.

5.0Health and Safety

5.1Under the Health and Safety at Work Act you have to ensure the Health and Safety of yourself and others who may be affected by what you do or fail to do. This includes colleagues, clients, public and contractors. The Act applies to all work activities and premises and everyone at work has responsibilities under it. You must co-operate with any work place Risk Assessments and draw any perceived problems to the attention of your line manager.

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
SKILLS AND ABILITIES / Numerate and literate to a minimum GCSE standard
Awareness of the housing and support needs of young single homeless people.
Experience of working with socially excluded clients or similar work
Commitment to working with outside agencies in order to ensure maximum support delivery to service users where possible
Working knowledge and understanding of Housing and welfare benefits framework.
Working knowledge of the skills required to secure and maintain a tenancy.
Working knowledge of initiatives in resident participation, customer care and quality standards.
Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to include nights and weekends when required.
Must be prepared to work with and give commitment to the Associations policies and procedures.
Coaching and motivational skills, which will assist young people to acquire new skills for themselves.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills with an ability to maintain administration systems and prioritise workloads.
Must hold full UK driving licence, and have the use of a vehicle at all times.
Able to work on own initiative / Degree or other relevant qualification in housing, social care or advisory roles
Working knowledge and understanding of community care and Supporting People programmes.
Knowledge of current legislation as it relates to single homeless, care leavers, ex-offenders, and people with mental health problems.
Good knowledge of local training providers, housing providers, voluntary and statutory support agencies, educational establishments and other agencies that assist young people.
Knowledge of Universal Housing software, Contact Manager and CAPITA
Ability to contribute effectively to the Organisation’s operational plan.
