Part-time position as Literacy Coordinator,
Adult Literacy Program at the Abington Free Library
The Literacy Coordinator will be responsible for providing basic adult education support as part of two temporary projects: Preparation for GED 2014, and Assisting Recent Immigrants.
Responsibilities include: managing correspondence about the new GED; interviewing potential GED students and tutors; monitoring student progress; facilitating in orientation, recruitment, assessment and retention of students; and following rules and regulations, adhering to procedures and completing required paperwork as set by the grant requirements; assisting the program coordinator with the day-to-day activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Adult Education or related field; Master’s preferred. One year of experience working with non-traditional adult student populations. Experience teaching reading and/or ESL a plus.

*Familiarity with eData systems.
*Demonstrated ability to motivate and relate to adult learners.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of students and tutors.
*Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and management skills.
*Ability to work a flexible schedule.
*Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Access
This is a 9-month position starting October 1, 2014. Workload: approximately 10 hours per week.
