A4ID Training Internship
Advocates for International Development (A4ID) is the charity that empowers lawyers to use their skills to fight world poverty. A4ID provides internships for individuals hoping to gain further experience in the legal, charitable and international development sectors. We offer a variety of positions to suit individuals' skills and experience in communications, fundraising, pro bono and development. This internship position will continue through to December 2016.
All interns assist A4ID’s staff team and are encouraged to attend meetings, contribute ideas and assist in the development of all areas of the charity and its programmes. This is a volunteer position. Interns are very welcome and are encouraged to attend all A4ID training, including the Law and Development Training Programme.

Training Internship
This role involves assisting the A4ID Training department with scoping, research, planning and conducting various training courses and events on Law, Development, and Business & Human Rights. The position will work with the Head of Learning toward two key objectives:
- Plan the content, logistics and budget for the annual Law and Development Training Programme 2016 / 2017, as well as promote the event among the legal profession in London
- Plan the content, logistics and budget for expansion of training programmes and events into different thematic and geographic areas.
- Plan, organise and promote training courses and events on Business & Human Rights and Development issues in the UK, India, and Kenya.
The role will require:
- Conducting research on A4ID’s current Training activities and potential for growth
- Conducting market research into existing training programmes run by ‘competitors’.
- Assisting in the planning, promoting and running of training days and events for development organisations and law firms
- Carrying out other research into the legal and development sectors (such as identifying experts in specific development areas so as to involve them in our training programmes);
- Assisting with liaising with A4ID partners, and increasing A4ID’s visibility as a quality training provider
- Assisting the Head of Learning as required with other related tasks.
Applicants should possess the following skills/qualifications:
Required:
- Commitment to the work of A4ID
- Strong interest in international development or law, and the intersection of these two fields
- Experience in event organising, online marketing and/or market research
- Excellent organisational skills; attention to detail and time management
- Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written
- Strong interpersonal skills to assist in communication with legal and development organisations
- Competent IT skills including experience of Word, Outlook, Excel, and social media
Desirable
- Experience in planning and promoting training workshops or seminars
- Experience drafting articles, blog posts or communications material
- A background in marketing and advocacy
- Experience of working in a professional legal and/or charitable organisation
