SUMMERSIDE FIGURE SKATING CLUB

This year, we are pleased to welcome back our Professional Coach, Sharon MacAusland, Brenda Smith, our CanSkate Coach and our freelance coaches, Krista MacKay and Gina Heckbert. We also have many of our CanSkate Program Assistants and Adult Volunteer Coaches returning as well as some new ones. Without their assistance, our CanSkate program would not be successful. SYNCHRONIZED SKATING
In addition to our CanSkate, Junior and Senior skating programs, we also offer Synchronized skating. A team consists of 8-16 skaters from CanSkate stage 4 and up. It is a great way for the skaters to improve their skating skills, make new friends and have lots of fun. The teams are coached by Sharon MacAusland. If your child is interested, please contact Kelly Perry 436-0600 for more info.
FUND RAISING
For any non-profit organization to function, fund raising is an essential and major part of the planning process. This year, Club members will be selling Christmas Wreaths. Wreaths will sell for $20. More information will follow soon.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-Please note that parents are not allowed on the ice surface during skating times. This is for legal reasons and safety of all.
-We ask that parents do not use the players’ boxes for viewing purposes as we may need to use the area in the case of an emergency.
-All skaters under the age of 12 must have an adult or guardian in the arena during the entire skating session. It is parents responsibility to attend to their child should they come off ice surface for any given reason.
-Skating dates and times are available on our website:
The website is an important tool, please bookmark it and refer to it for updates and reminders.
-Please provide us with a contact e-mail. This is our best method of communication should it be necessary to inform you of changes, upcoming events, storm cancellations, etc.
-Membership to our organization is a privilege and will be revoked for inappropriate behavior on the part of parents or skaters.
We promote a safe, supportive environment and will follow guidelines issued by our CODE OF CONDUCT. Code of Conduct should be reviewed by all parents and skaters and is located on our website (Handout tab) or from a board member. If you wish a copy, please contact an executive board member.
-Membership is not transferable to another person
-Fees will not be pro-rated for late registration.
-Do not leave valuables in change rooms.
-Payments in full by personal cheque, cash, or Automatic Fund Transfer are required at the time of registration. NSF cheques will be charged an administration fee.
-Skaters should dress warmly but not so they are unable to move. Layers are best so they can shed a layer when they are too warm or add if too cold. Snowpants/suits are not recommended. PLEASE – no fuzzy mittens or gloves!
-All skaters must leave the ice immediately when their session ends.
-Tax receipts will be issued in February 2012.
We hope you have a fun-filled season with SFSC. We look forward to many accomplishments and successes.
Please contact us if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.
