General Chairs Report 2016

Wow another year has flown by and HOD is upon us and we are nearing the end of our championships season.

We have had another great year and a lot has happened. In September the Alaska Delegation went to USAS Convention in Kanas City. We had 6 attend the 2015 USAS and for the first time more than one Athlete attended and we were able to use all Six or of allowed votes. It was great to have such a great showing and our athletes were very involved while they were there. Below are our updated charts for our national Motivation times B-AAAA

AK Age Group- Single Age “B” Time

AK Junior Olympics Age Group “BB” Time

Great Alaska Open 13/14 “A” Time

So here is what our Breakdown looks like over that last 4 years:

So as you can see by the chart so far in 2016 we are either matching or doing better than we did in 2015. .

Not too bad if you ask me. Now I thought I would throw in some other information I can across. Our Splash Count per event over the last 4 years. As you know by Carolyn Frye’s Report she loaded 116 meets in SWIMS last season (2013-2014) so far this year she has loaded 76 meets.

So I have broken the Splash Data down three different ways for this report. Total Splashes by Event, Total Female Splashes by Event and Total Male Splashes by event. I currently have 5 year of data in my work sheets and if you would like to see the data another way let me know and if I can show it that way I am more than happy to do it. Here are the Total for the years I looked at:

2011-12 / 2012-13 / 2013-14 / 2014-15 / 2015-16
Total Splashes / 27,734 / 32,911 / 34,916 / 38,145 / 25,688

Here is the Total Splashes broken down by Year and Stoke:

Here are total Splashes broken down by Year & Stoke for Female:

Here are total Splashes broken down by Year & Stoke for Male:

. In 2015 we only had a few Nationally Certified officials (3-Stroke Turn, 2-Staters, 2- Referee/Deck Referee, 3-Chief Judges, 1 Administration Referee), In 2016 we have increased our number of National Certified Officials to 10- Stroke & Turns, 4-Starters, 2-Referee/Deck Referee, 3-Chief. Nice job on getting more officials Nationally Certified.

Next up is some Membership Trends by Age Group for Retention:

Membership Trend by Age Group:

The last one I will put into my report is Average Rate of Improvement for 2016 by Stoke

Here is how we finished for 2015 for our Average Rate of Improvements by Stroke.

Here is how we are doing so far in 2016 for our Average Rate of Improvement by Stroke.

In closing I continue to challenge each Coach, Team, Athlete, Official, Volunteer and member for Alaska Swimming to find a way to better Alaska Swimming again this year. We have a great organization which is because of the vested time our volunteers have put into it. We have to keep bring up new volunteers to keep our great organizationgreat. No one can do it alone, it take all of us. Again thanks for all you hard work and keep up the hard work.
