THANK YOU for your interest in ministry through the Management Board of Foundry UMC!
Instructions. Please fill out this form and return it to no later than June 3. Please expect a prompt acknowledgement of your application. Church records may be checked to confirm your application contents including membership, financial contribution and activity involvement. By submitting this application you consent to such verification. You may be contacted to schedule an interview with the nominations committee. Skills and traits of Board members are found on page 3. Board Candidates. Submitting your name for consideration means that you will be screened by the nominating committee for consideration as one of up to 26 candidates for 9 to 13 board positions. If you are selected as a candidate you will be notified by Tuesday June 5 and you will be expected to provide a photo and 250 word statement to be included in the balloting information by Wednesday June 6. Your candidacy will be announced to the congregation on June 10. Candidates will be selected by vote at a Church Conference after the 11:00 service on June 24. Successful candidates will be expected to commit to a three year term. At the first Board meeting, Board Members will draw lots to create staggered terms of one two and three years. The Board will meet on the third Tuesday of the month, and the first meeting is a training meeting on July 10.
Committee Candidates: Committee members are requested to commit to a one year term that may be renewed each year. Committee members serve at the will of the Committee Chair, an elected board member. If you are selected as a committee candidate you will be notified by June 10 and your name will be forwarded to the elected Board at their first meeting. The Board member designated as chair of that committee will contact you with further instructions after the first Board meeting.

This group discusses extremely sensitive personnel issues from time to time. It is critical these issues remain confidential…that they are shared with no one, often even your spouse if married. What are your feelings about this? Are you capable of being absolutely confidential in this leadership role?

Section 1. Board Member Traits
· Compassion (love for Jesus, Jesus’ people, and Jesus’ mission).
· Competent (skills consistent with human resources, operations and stewardship).
· Creative (ability to look at the total of God’s resources and bring the best into the church).
· Demonstrated financial commitment to Foundry United Methodist Church.
· Demonstrated commitment to serving in an area of ministry or mission.
· Availability to devote at least 15 hours per month, plus one annual retreat to Board business.
Section 2. Skills of the Board Members
Some Board Members should have expertise in one or more of these areas:
· Human Resource Development: Personnel management, hiring, training, salary structure.
· Operations Development: Facility/site development, legal counsel, communication.
· Stewardship Development: Internal and external funding, budgets, congregational stewardship.
Standing Committees, In addition to the Executive Committee there are four standing committees (specific duties of each are stated in the bylaws):
Finance Committee. The Treasurer is chair of the Finance Committee. The purpose of the Finance Committee is to oversee Foundry’s financial performance and establish financial management practices as needed.
Personnel Committee. The purpose of the Personnel Committee is to oversee Foundry’s human resources.
Facilities and Operations Committee. The purpose of the Facilities and Operations Committee is to oversee Foundry’s building, grounds, and other infrastructure.
Governance Committee. The purpose of the Governance Committee is to provide policy guidance and recommend revisions and changes in governing authority as needed, and to nominate new Board member candidates.
