SLHCC’s NP is a certified nurse practitioner who provides primary care in the clinic and on outreach, for families and children. Supervised by the Clinical Director and the Chief Medical Officer. This person is committed to helping improve health outcomes in underserved populations.
Major Functions and Responsibilities: In conjunction with SLHCC’s Clinical Director and the Chief Medical Officer the NP will participate in quality assurance/quality improvement, health outreach and education, and integration of behavioral health into primary care. He/she also provides patient care and encourages collaboration in a team environment so patients receive the highest care possible.
Major Activities and End Results:
1. Provide patient care to adults and potentially children at the clinic and on outreach.
2. Assist with the supervision and direction of MA and RN staff in coordination with the Clinical Director.
3. Assist the quality assurance/improvement team with developing Quality Improvement projects. Report to Clinical Director on issues regarding quality care for patients including behavioral health and dental care
4. Assist clinical team with compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other clinical health and safety regulations.
5. Be in active participant in multi-disciplinary teams, including outreach, QI and patient health education.
6. Support the clinical director as needed to ensure the clinic is operating as efficiently as possible.
7. Represent St. Luke’s at health-related collaborative meetings within the Doña Ana County community.
8. Work with the CMO on ensuring SLHCC is providing relevant and appropriate services to pediatric patients.
9. Identify health risks and the effects of substance use, pesticide contamination, sun exposure, and musculoskeletal problems in people who are homeless, indigent, and migratory/seasonal agricultural workers. Employee must be up-to-date with trends and health issues in these populations.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
· Minimum Qualifications: Experience working with under-served populations, providing primary care in a medical/clinical setting.
· Desired Qualifications: Bi-lingual with experience working with under-served populations with chronic health issues and co-morbidities. Multi-year hands on experience as an NP.
· Ability to recognize and address health issues in agricultural workers and people who are homeless.
Education, Credentials, Licenses
· Minimum Qualifications: Certified Nurse Practitioner with active NM Medical, DEA, and NM Board of Pharmacy Controlled Substance licenses.
· Desired Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish/English.

· Able to remain standing for periods of a three hours
· Able to lift 20 pounds.
· Able to relate detailed information verbally and in writing.
