42. Conference Diaconal Committee
Report to the Representative Session of business conducted by the Conference
Diaconal Committee (“the Committee”) meeting at the Convocation of the Methodist Diaconal Order on 11May 2012.
At the request of the President, who was unable to be present, the Ex Vice-President took the Chair.
1. Deacons who have died
The Committee approved the Obituaries, as printed and circulated to the meeting, of Winifred May Clark and Kathleen Mabel Phoenix.
2. Candidates
The Committee recommended, with the required majority, acceptance by the Representative Session of the following candidates to proceed immediately into pre-ordination training:

3. Transfer
The Conference Diaconal Committee recommends to the Representative Session that Gill Judge, an ordained deacon of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, be received by transfer onto probation and, upon satisfactory completion of probation, be received into Full Connexion at the Conference of 2014.
A resolution will be presented to the Representative Session of the Conference at the appropriate point that the above named be received by transfer.
4. Training and Probation
The Committee noted that the following students had withdrawn from training:

6. Deacons becoming Supernumerary

The Committee accepted the report that the President had permitted Deacon Donald Pritchard to become supernumerary during the year on health grounds.
A resolution will be presented to the Representative Session of the Conference at the appropriate point that the above named be permitted to become supernumerary.
7. Annual Inquiry
The Warden of the Order gave to the Committee on behalf of the Convocation the assurances as to the character and discipline of the deacons and diaconal probationers required by Standing Order 183.
***RESOLUTIONS
42/1. The Conference received the Report.
42/2. The Conference adopted the report on diaconal students and probationers recommended for continuance in training or on probation as set out in section 4.
42/3 The Conference resolved by a Standing Vote that it accepted for training unconditionally or conditionally as the case may be the candidates for ministry recommended by the Diaconal Committee whose names are recorded in the report of that committee in the Daily Record
